War Crimes Charges against Clinton
There was nothing in Iraq, this is obvious now, there was nothing there and at his direction his UN staff and Madeline Albright blocked moves at removing the absolutely deadly sanctions against Iraq.

If you want to excuse him and think Bush is a liar you are nothing but a partisan hypocrite, they are two killers from the same cloth and this is the reason people around here are so confused about why Clinton wants to let the whole thing drop. He doesn't have a choice.

Clinton and Bush at the Hague in 2005.

1. Letting it go seems to be the thrust
I don't know, but if Saddam was an immediate threat last August, then he was an immediate threat in January 2001, and an immediate threat in 1998, where the American reaction to the "ejection of inspectors by Iraq" was to bomb a plant.

So...he was a threat or he wasn't, and more than one person has an interest in the question settling itself.

It's really too bad that Clinton has had very little to say against this war. I guess, in retrospect, it was in his interests for Iraq to go away.

2. Time passes
It's certainly not necessarily the case that the conditions in Iraq in 1998 before Clinton attacked were the same as in 2003, or even in 1998 after Clinton attacked. Wesley Clark has said that he believes we hit a significant number of targets related to WMD in the 1998 attack. Between that and the fact that most bio and chem weapons have a relatively short shelf life, I really don't have a very difficult time believing that Saddam presented significantly more of a threat before the 1998 attack than he did in 2003.

4. Well you'd definitely better get them to declassify the Iran-Contra docs
and send daddy Bush along with them to the klinker.
