NYC DUers, whats the line on Askew? re: Davis shooting?
Is he a repug? CNN said that he ran against Davis. What was his platform?

4. Motive, apparently...
He had filed papers for a candidacy and been disqualified. He was removed from the ballot. Evidently, he felt he had spent a great deal of money to get ON the ballot and had been wrongly disqualified.

This was discussed on MSNBC.

My guess would be that Davis invited him to speak to the Council regarding the disqualification and when they wouldn't put him on the agenda, he started shooting.

They DO know he came into the Chamber with Davis, was accompanied by Davis through security (thus avoiding the metal detectors) at 1:44 pm ET. They have that on videotape.
