Questions that need to be asked of Campaign volunteers
One of my favorite web sites is http://www.bobbeckel.com.

This is a man who knows the tactics of the right inside out. I have posted his list of questions to root out the moles who may be digging into our campaigns. The rest of his website is simply amazing. Pay it a visit.

Over the 180 plus campaigns I’ve been involved in all of the above have happened several times. It’s hard to detect a planted volunteer. You don’t want to challenge everyone that walks in to help since most of them really do want your candidate to win. Here are some suggestions:

Ask each volunteer to fill out a volunteer form that includes an address, DOB, SS number, and who recommended they volunteer. A campaign should do this form anyway for insurance purposes in the event a volunteer is injured.

Check the volunteers name in the voter registration files in their county or city of residence. If registration is by party and your volunteer is a Republican you have every reason to ask why a volunteer wants to support a progressive Democrat.

Ask a supporter who has access to Dunn&Bradstreet or some other information service to run your volunteers name thru the service. This is particularly important for older ‘retired’ volunteers. My experience is that the Right prefers older moles to do their dirty work.

Be sure your volunteer coordinator asks the volunteer about their background e.g. school, work, family, etc. A real volunteer will have no problem giving this information.

If you uncover a Right ‘volunteer’ they will split fast. Please send any information on this person or persons to bobbeckel.com. We keep a list of suspected Right Wing infiltrators, and by giving us the information we can warn other campaigns.

If you are suspicious about a volunteer contact us by email to see if bb.c has a history on this person, or we would be happy to check someone out for you.

If yours is a competitive race the chances are over 60% that the Right will try to infiltrate your campaign.

More than ever, we need to understand it is war, and the Right is going to use every dirty trick they can between now and next November.
