3. That was quick!
Thanks--I saved it for further musing. I also want to get some great quotes for sigs from it. Gore is a highly intelligent man who knows how to speak well, and puts bushie to shame every time he opens his mouth.

5. Man..thanks a lot for that transcript...
I'm so glad Gore did that speech. He pointed out everything wrong with this misadministration, from the loss of our civil liberties, freedoms, privacy, the list goes on. I also love how he connected the Dubya misadministration to "Big Brother" from the book 1984. Sadly, it's true.

We all need to stop bickering w/ each other about the current Democrats who are trying to get the nomination. No need to fight with each other on who is better. Let's all focus on the main objective on hand: To get rid of Bush and bring our freedoms back. Let us all support whomever gets the nomination.

Thank you.
Mysterio

9. The guy has LASER VISION......and so much clarity:
"And perhaps the most important of these issues is the one I want to talk about today: the true relationship between Freedom and Security."

That's exactly the issue: freedom and security. And that's EXACTLY what the radical right will agree IS the issue...or TELL US is the issue. Freedom and security. Repukes: you must forego your freedom to have security. Dems/the Left: You can't have security without freedom.

Please, America, wake the hell up!

10. You know what?
It pisses me off! This is exactly what he was supposed to fight for in the first place. All the accuracy and the punch he has now, we needed it then. Rather than the soft talk on the freakin' lockbox.

13. Sounds like an excellent
speech from our President. I hope the Democrats in Congress watch this and remember what it is like to be an actual opposition party. This hopefully will get some play in the corporate media.

14. This Speech
I thought this speech was excellent. More than anything I think it showed a man frustrated at the message the current field is out delivering. He spoke what needed to be said today. Don't count Al Gore out. This field, no matter how hard we try to convince ourselves, is extremely weak. Gore could walk in long after New Hampshire, still meet the filing deadlines for primary states that would give him the nomination.....and all without campaigning for two years!

21. Did the FrR people show up outside the speech?
Here is their call to picket outside President-Elect Gore's speech. Were they there and if so, how many?
(Note that in order to picket they said that you had to be in good standing. Does this mean they took roll and evicted those not in good standing? just asking....)

"Yessirree, folks. Al Gore, Vice President during the eight year Clinton Administration, will be telling anyone who will listen, how badly the administration of G.W. Bush is infringing on Americans' freedoms, and how much more vulnerable to terrorism we are now, under Bush's leadership.
The DC Chapter invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us as we correct the record for passers-by and attendees.
When: Sunday, November 9
Where: On the sidewalk at DAR Constitution Hall, 18th Street - between C and D Streets, NW
As usual, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect.
Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect."

22. Thank you so much!!
That is a great speech.

My wife and I really like Gore and we felt he
was a better man and better candidate for President
than anyone gave him credit for. We both voted for
him and were riveted to the TV set during the recount
period. Like many of you, we were viscerally upset
as it became increasingly clear that the media and the
GOP were robbing him of his Presidency.

I still like Gore and admire him (despite his faults --
they all have them).

If he decided to run now, I am not sure what I would
do. I would still support and campaign for Clark but
I would also campaign for a Gore/Clark ticket anyway.

I like them both and I think they are both good, honorable
men.

More importantly, I hope Gore get's his liberal channel
off the ground. We need that. I think the media is rampant
with corporatism and right-wing fundamentalist sympathies.
The entire media and journalism industry is failing to
help protect our democracy.
