Saddam will NEVER be allowed to surrender
There is NO WAY BushCo will allow Saddam to surrender. He would have too much information that BushCo wouldn't want out.

If 200 troops took out 4 people yesterday (Saddams sons) , one in a wheelchair and the other a 14 yr old boy, I wonder what force will be brought down on Saddam when he is located.

1. Sadam is dead, on ice somewhere, to be "killed" at most advantageous
moment for Shrub.

12. Or in custody
Waiting to be put in a 'villa' and to start a 'four-hour firefight' so he can be 'killed'.

7. If I were Sadaam...
I might try surrendering to authorities in Zurich, Paris, Belgium etc...somewhere that wouldn't be bullied by the U.S. into extradition, and somewhere without a death penalty.

4. What exactly do you think he is going to say?
"Well, I never did have any weapons of mass distruction."

Personally I think a nice big show trial focusing on how evil Saddam was would be in President's Bush favor. It would underline and underscore the cruelty of Saddam Hussein, and provide an after the fact justification for liberating the poor Iraqi people. And it would help President Bush and other Conservatives paint a very dark picture of anybody who opposed getting rid of such an evil monster.

8. Well, I've thought about it
And I still think they could minimize that risk to themselves. I suppose the most damning thing that Saddam could talk about is how the US government supported him when he was doing his most bloddy work--that said, I still think they could limit his exposure to the media and then prevent him from presenting information that doesn't tie directly to the charges.

13. Not enough sex to attract interest
!sarcasm_on
Unless Saddam was boinking someone or getting BJ's illicitly, the public won't care. Listening to recounts of atrocities is so boring. Nothing infuriates a GOPer like someone having sex.
What really matters is who is doing who.

5. "They killed a 14 year old boy and another in a wheelchair".?.
Is that not over kill? Why were they a freakin' threat to them? :kick: Instead of a "Brave New World", is this not a different World altogether?

9. Saddam has to be left alive to be returned to power.
Well, he was in full compliance with 1441 and was truthful to the UN, so he TRIED to avert an illegal war. The UN should be DEMANDING that Hussein be captured alive so he can be rightfully reinstated as Iraq's leader. The UN gave him the conditions, he accepted them, and therefore the UN was agreeing that Saddam should be rightfully left in charge. They can't say that the people over there need to have a democratic process without having a double standard visavis Syria (who led the security council), Egypt, Saudi, Jordan, Kuwait, and let's not bring up Israel. So if he is killed, the UN has already positioned itself for war crime trials for the coalition forces and commanders who commit the illegal act on the legal leader of the country.

11. Glad someone said it
Yeah the guy was a torturer and a tyrant and one brutal MF, but anyone who thinks we didn't just climb in bed with him is delusional.

How many other Saddams and Charles Taylors are there in the world that we are either turning our eyes the other way, or supporting outright?

There is a name for it: A LYNCH MOB. Just when you thought civilized Western society had gotten over it, back it comes with a vengeance and a fresh new face.

10. Saddam can be very charismatic
If you saw the Rather interview, you know. If they do capture him alive, you won't hear a word come out of his mouth. Much simpler to create a "four-hour firefight" and just blow the shit out of him.

Meanwhile, Bremer is telling Iraqis: "We made you our ho's!":

"I think we now have a possibility of somebody coming with the big one, somebody who really wants to get the $25 million reward."

Translation:

"It's all about money, isn't it? I mean, you've got your 'national pride' and 'pride in your culture', and all that, but in truth we can buy you, can't we?"
