And I feel GOOD about it. He is the best orator of the bunch and he is saying what needs to be said. He is going to be registering voters and I want to help him with that. He went to bat for Vieques and he is trying to do something about the tragedy in the Sudan.

I don't know what will happen by next years Pa primary, but for now I think helping Al Sharpton get his message out is a GREAT way to spend my energy!!!!!!!!

Take that Sharpton Naysayers!

Dinkins said that "people tend to forget that Sharpton got stabbed and then went to visit the man who stabbed him." His assailant was white. That was in Bensonhurst in 1991, when Sharpton led protests over the death of a black teenager, Yusuf Hawkins, who was beaten by a white mob.

Sharpton said the criticism leveled at him is of a piece with the vilification that greeted King, Jesse Jackson and Adam Clayton Powell, the three civil rights leaders he claims as inspiration. "It goes with the territory," Sharpton said of the criticism. "They are trying--and I might add, unsuccessfully--to rob me of the moral weapon of raising the issue."

<snip>

"Folks are desperate right in through here," he said. "They're not desperate because of anything Al did or did not do. They're desperate because the cops shot some people in the neighborhood. If Al dropped dead tomorrow, if Al was no longer on the scene, that would not make a difference to the issues."

1. Cheswick......I'm giving a cheer to you for doing this......!!! YAY!!!
He's what could become our "counter" to the RW Motor Mouths (Coulter, Savage, Limbaugh, North, De Lay, Matthews, and all the various Pundits who so "glibly" trash our Dem candidates!

Twana Brawley, and other incidents aside........he's a great spokesperson for attacking Bush and getting our message acrooss. We need some rabid mouths will "less than stellar" backgrounds to do for us what the RW has going for it.

I still can't look at Sharpton and feel the damage he's done is comperable to Coulter, and the RW CABAL.

Others may very will differ on that.......feeling that we Democrats must be "Purer" than our "Opposition."

But, LOOK AT OUR OPPOSITION! Then look at Sharpton and his performance at the Democratic debates and how he handled himself with Bob Shieffer...........and then think that we should tar him and feather him and drag him behind a pick up truck because he isn't "Pure" enough to speak to some Democratic Americans.

I join you.........and thanks..........he doesn't have a chance but he "Spoke Up" when others didn't or were too Politically Correct to do so.......I'm not that much of a purist........we are in the "trenches here" saving America.....we have to remember that the old adage "Politics Makes Strange Bedfellows" has a lot of truth to it.........

Thanks!!

2. Presentation
If you had been watching the South Carolina debates w/o any pre-conceptions or history, Sharpton and Mosely-Braun absolutely shone. They carried it. Not by their positions per se, but by the way they presented themselves--good-humored, articulate and passionate.

Which just goes to show that it IS possible, and way too bad that some of the more favored candidates don't have that kind of charisma.

3. Good Point! Those "little voices" can sound mighty big when we are faced
with what we are in America today. And, there's that factor of "sticking it to the Media" who want to "Select" who our Dem Candidates are just as they have in the past. So, just the "rebellion factor" makes listening more closely to our "little voices" who might not have been heard in the past is important. Carol Mosley-Brawn has been very impressive.....agree...........We have to support them all.....for the Big Tent........to become the BIG VOICE....Just my humble opinion.......
