Damn! Dean has great statements about everything!
On the recent abortion legislation:

"As a physician, I am outraged that the Senate has decided it is qualified to practice medicine. There is no such thing as 'partial birth abortion' in medical literature. But there are times when a doctor is called upon to perform a late term abortion to save a woman's life or protect her from serious injury. Today the Senate took a step toward making it a crime for a doctor to perform such medically necessary procedures."

On Traitorgate:

"News today that the head of the Justice Department's criminal division admitted to the Senate that Attorney General Ashcroft is taking more of a hands-on role in the investigation of the Ambassador Wilson matter is a disturbing revelation. The Justice Department and the White House must stop the practice of allowing the fox to guard the henhouse. Attorney General Ashcroft has a conflict of interest in investigating the White House, and he knows it. As the top law enforcer in the land, who took an oath to uphold the law, he must appoint an independent investigator, or the justice he is charged with pursuing will be severely undermined. I renew my call for the Bush administration to govern with the honor and integrity that they so frequently promised the American people during their campaign."

I'm a Kerry man, but I will be damn proud to vote for Dean should he take the nomination.

the "Dean performed abortions" line. The Christian right is going to flip.

3. They'll flip against any Democrat
because we pour fetus on our Wheaties in the morning, don'tcha know. None of the candidates will be exempt, thankfully, because all of them have solid pro-choice credentials.

but I think it's a bit of stretch to say that Kucinich has "solid pro-choice" credentials.

or is this another smear by the republican propagandists?

13. It's just propaganda
He was involved in planned parenthood. So, according to right-wingers, that makes him an abortionist.

Sounds like a non-issue
i dont think the Republicans would have much traction with it except to rile the fundie base which is already overwhelmingly pro-Bush anyways, so it seems like it wouldnt make much of a difference.

7. And?
We never stood a chance with the fundies, anyway. So why worry about their reaction that much? Sure, they might rally round Bush, but we can rally right back at them.

18. but notice...
...it's already been introduced into this thread...

yes, the Dean Team is quick on releasing excellent, comprehensive statements that demonstrate how engaged they are in current events and the "chatter" amongst Dean supporters (and detractors for that matter)...

10. Dean wouldn't be that bad of a baloney sandwich, huh?
I like Dean. Kucinich is my boy, but I'd definitely be happy to vote for him. (or Kerry or Edwards or...)

I heard Dean speak here in Tucson last summer and the guy has some fire. I like how he has a bit of temper in him. He appears angry but in control and his statements are complete gold.

15. I hope Dean wins
He seems to be the least compromised of the major candidates. Of course I will support any of them, but he is my consistent favorite.

Also, he seems to understand the economy of words. His statements are tight, unlike most political meandering. It is refreshing as hell!

23. This is exactly what drew me to him
It's much more than that now, but I only started listening to him because his statements were so clear and direct.

While I agree that he has struggled to explain his positions at times, the majority of his speeches and comments are refreshingly direct.

19. I like the fact that
all of us here seem to be getting on the same page. Whether you're a Dean guy, or an Edwards guy, or a Kerry guy etc ( using guy to refer to all genders), we're all admitting that we will fight hard for whoever wins the nomination, and that's of paramount importance. We must stand united againt the dark side, and not take cheap shots at each other in the interim.

22. exactly, I'm absolutely against hammering other candidates
Not every candidate is ideal, but they all are better than Bush. They all have their good points too. I'm all for Dean, Kerry, Edwards, Clark and etc. I'm glad they represent us. A good group I think. We got something special coming around in our party. I feel it and believe it.

24. My husband jumped "fully" aboard this last weekend at a brunch
Edited on Wed Oct-22-03 07:04 PM by MrsGrumpy
with Dean. His comments on NAFTA (my husband wears his name on his shirt) are exactly what union and non union, skilled and unskilled tradesmen need to hear. I hope Dean starts talking LOUDER about that here in Michigan...starting Sunday. Take the unions to Mexico, make it less worthwhile to ship the jobs out.

My husband was intrigued by him...until he actually heard him speak. Now he's pretty well decided. (He's a notorious fence sitter).

... it is good to see someone focus on the positive.

While I'm not generally a "glass half full" sorta person, as far as I'm concerned we Dems are lucky. What some old biddies call a 'sorry lot' ALL look like men of honor, integrity, and a real vision for America.

31. Compare With Kerry
KERRY IS EXTREME ON ABORTION, SUPPORTING FEDERAL FUNDING AND PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTIONS

Kerry Voted At Least Three Times Against Banning Partial-Birth Abortions.

Kerry Voted To Allow Federal Funding Of Abortions And To Provide Abortion Counseling In Federally-Funded Clinics.

http://www.rnc.org/Newsroom/RNCResearch/Research012303.htm

It's no secret that Wilson has maxed out in support of Kerry (like most in the intelligence sector apparently). Kerry talks about the leak in almost every stump speech. And he voted against Ashcroft, despite his Party's misgivings.
