Facts are stupid things, as Ronald Reagan once observed. They can also be extremely difficult to pin down, particularly when they concern the ever controversial former president.

That is what CBS television has found since taking the risk-laden decision to make a mini-series about the life of the US actor turned president.

The show has already started an uproar a month before it is due to be broadcast. While Mr Reagan sits at home in California in the grip of Alzheimer's disease and unaware of the struggles swirling around him, the battle lines in America's latest culture war have been drawn.

On the other hand, even the most fervent Reagan supporters will find it difficult to argue with the portrayal of his hands-off, laidback approach to governing. This was, after all, the man who famously said: "They say hard work never hurt anybody, but I figure, why take the chance?" <snip>

1. TVMedia helped create Regan Myth---

so it is only natural they are in contrortions over thevery idea that anyone who saw the Regan Years differently from them. The RW aso uses Regan as a tool to bolster their party. If Bush is in trouble wome cable network will find time to run some Regan Program.
This is a propaganda tactic to keep the base loyal and distract from any problems the party may be going through at the time. Sure they are going to fight and defame Hollywood--they are "messing " with one of their political tools. Last night the talkers on mSNBC were revising History Big Time while point an accusing Hollywood of same.
They even said if people see this they will believe this stuff. They cannot accept the fact that regan was human with warts and all just like the rest of us.--therefore, he was not correct on every issue.

2. I like this pre-emptive strategy

Folks have seemingly forgotten what a snake he was. His supporters have been building him up for sainthood since his exit from office. He is bound to die soon (if they don't already have him on ice) and when he does, the Repugs will drag out his carcass and wrap him two or three times an hour in the flag. We will be bombarded with Reagan memories, all distorted to remind us of what a great American he was.

This first volley in the coming Reagan assualt will be instrumental in setting the public perception in the coming months. Nice effort - I hope the end product is quality.

3. How bad can it be-I doubt that Selena Waters' allegations will be included

How Ronnie followed her home from a party, forced himself into her apartment and raped her.
I don't necessarily believe her, but it's as credible as Juanita Brodderick's allegations about Clinton.
