So the truth is, "Total Information Awareness" never went away at all,
did it?

And where the hell is Poindexter these days?

1. Same thing I thought
I'm sure the programmers who were working on it couldn't bear to delete everything -- and I bet their supervisors never really checked.

So everything got duped onto a few CDs -- and they kept right on working on it. Probably even made the program even STRONGER now that management was out of the way.

2. Never went away...just away from the public eye.
TIA is up and running fine. Big Brother is watching you and me! Bank on it.

4. Same pig, different shade of lipstick
They were hoping Americans were brain dead enough
not to remember just who Poindexter is, didn't happen-
so they simply put him in an undisclosed location...

3. That could be why ...
they went public with TIA in the first place.

I was so absurd, that they would be forced to discontinue the program (publicly). Once they have done that, they have the cover to luanch the program secretly.

Pure fucking evil.

Cheers

6. Of course it didn't
It was just put in different dressing, called something else, and not publicized.

7. Looks like they just renamed it "Terrorist Information Awareness"
See http://www.eff.org/Privacy/TIA/ for some good links about the program.

These guys always 'float' their lamebrained ideas first..and if the people say "Hey-great idea", they are home free, AND they can track who is paying attention.

If people get all "uppity" and complain, then they also know who is paying attention, and they take measures to make sure "those people" don't find out about the measures they take to hide the "new and improved" version of whatever it is they are planning.
