1. I voted for Heading Home
Looks like I'm in the majority for once.

6. The top three for me were:
the pope lying in state, the abandoned corpse in New Orleans, and Heading Home (which, like you, I also selected).

21. I voted for this one too
even before reading this thread and seeing that I am in the majority.

I'm moved by the disasters... the tsunami and Katrina and so on.

But the juxtaposition of people going about their daily routine and the marine honor guard
placing one of their own into the same plane that these people are traveling in...
it made me really wonder what thoughts those people, suddenly confronted not with stats or still
photos, but with the reality that thousands of young Americans are dying in Iraq... well, I
wonder what they are thinking when this photo was taken.

Bush is losing the public on this issue. They were lied to and need to confront the
reality of what is happening. This photo captures that perfectly. Got my vote.

2. It is currently being freeped, IMHO --
The Pope's funeral; fires in NOLA started by 'looters in boats'; flag-wrapped coffin of US soldier are currently the top picks -- photos of abandoned, dead people in NOLA, tsunami survivors and earthquake victims all have low ratings.

7. I'm not sure the fact that the flag draped coffin
photo is evidenced of it being freeped. I voted for it because it reminds the public that dead soldiers are coming home for war that means nothing. However, I too would like to see more votes for the NOLA victims and other war victims.

10. I think the opposite, actually.
The flag draped coffin - like the ones they never show on the news, is a very strong statement AGAINST Bush. If images of flag draped coffins made Bush look more heroic, they'd show them on FOX.

12. I think you are right - I posted and then looked at the other
responses and saw that a bunch of people here voted for "Coming Home." What ran through my mind when I saw it was that it was patriotic in the 'wrong way' - honoring fallen soldiers and, thus, honoring war.

15. Oh, yeah, I see.
I definitely honor the fallen soldiers, but NOT Bush's war for oil.

If the MSM just showed every flag draped coffin coming home, as well as a realistic view of the casualties of war, nobody would support this bullshit.

3. I've seen that Burial Ground photo before
And it breaks my heart. Those poor children. It's really hard for me to vote for that picture though because it's hard for me to imagine anything positive coming out of such a horrible tragedy. I know I'd be awfully devastated if someone's picture of my dead baby was nominated as "Picture of the Year".

4. I voted
I thought either number three (Fire and Water) or the one in which the passangers are looking at the coffin from the Iraq War (didn't check the caption)

18. The one that moved me was the mother nursing her baby
When I read the title as the picture was loading, I imagined, in the midst of hell, a mom nursing her baby with love. When I saw the picture, it made me so sad.
