Blix: I was a target, too ( Blix believed he was bugged)
As long as some are bringing up old stories and acting like it is breaking news, here is one to chew on.

Blix: I was a target, too
Chief UN weapons inspector believes he was bugged

The United Nations spying row widened yesterday when its former weapons inspector, Hans Blix, told the Guardian he suspected both his UN office and his home in New York were bugged in the run-up to the Iraq war.

In an exclusive interview, Mr Blix said he expected to be bugged by the Iraqis, but to be spied upon by the US was a different matter. He described such behaviour as "disgusting", adding: "It feels like an intrusion into your integrity in a situation when you are actually on the same side."

He said he went to extraordinary lengths to protect his office and home, having a UN counter-surveillance team sweep both for bugs.

"If you had something sensitive to talk about you would go out into the restaurant or out into the streets," he said.
Mr Blix's darkest fears were reinforced when he was shown a set of photographs by a senior member of the Bush administration which he insists could only have been obtained through underhand means.

2. I think it's valid to bring these accounts up because we now
have proof this admin has been spying, whereas a year ago it was speculation.

3. Agreed! At this point I'm betting it would be easier to keep a list of
people not spied on as opposed to those who were/are being spied on.

13. Hi Sabra, Thanks. I just looked for the thread in LBN and I don't see
any reason why the OP should be frustrated with it at all, and the first line of this OP is really rather petty IMHO.

Raw Story is a legitimate LBN source, and since the article was printed today it is 100% in conformance with the LBN rules. So what's the problem?

Sure, many of us knew the details already, but think of how many LBN threads we've seen from MSM this year that we already knew the details of a year or two prior.

I don't see why this one thread made someone outraged enough to post a mockery thread calling the thread out, but to each their own :)

8. Well ofcourse you were Hans! Any doubt? I'll put money on it...
Along with probably Al Bareidei (sp?) and anyone else either associated with the United Nations, Iraq, Congress, the Democratic Party and the media!

Imagine...everyone in the future having to talk quietly in the corner or writing on paper slipping it back and forth and then burning it....

Welcome to the Brave New World of Democracy, courtesy of the Bush Cabal!

11. My favorite paragraph.
"An international lawyer as well as having been a career diplomat, Mr Blix said legal and moral questions were raised by bugging. The Vienna convention prohibiting such behaviour "should be applicable to the UN headquarters". "

This is old news. But, I suppose short memories deserve reminders about these buggars.

24. How can Bush
Say he had and WMD intell failure.

It seems he had everyone taped. So he knew everything. Its an insult to say it was an intell flaw.

When he says Kerry and others looked at the same intell he did. Does that include all the spying data too!

26. This is one reason why you don't see Bush in the WHite House much
at least I believe this to be true, they don't KNOW how BUGGED the White House is, apparently Nixon never got hep to it and now there's a nice set where he calles people all kinds of racial epithets on top of the sheer nasties..

How can this be late breaking News?! Oh wait, no.. THIS story is in the PROPER area for this sort of "reminder" of what's going on..

I like the person down thread using a ridiculous excuse for the fact that RS is "reporting" OLD NEWS..

"Well, if the media can report things later then THEY should be able to as a valid news source.."

Okay, then if the MEDIA IS WRONG, then I guess RS gets to be WRONG TOO.. :)

If the MEDIA gets BIG BUCKS slamming Popups in your face then I guess it's okay for RS to do it too.. but I won't go there, I don't like being assaulted, especially when it's OLD NEWS.. hell, in my FILM "Rove's War" I attached the UN Bugging to the "file this under Rove's Self Bugging and Intimidation" section of the film.. WAAAAYYYY OLD NEWS.. my wife gestated, delivered a baby and now he's a YEAR OLD TODAY since this came OUT :)

Give me a break.

But thank you OKNancy for the reminder, this IS important, in RETROSPECT..

What's next, "Washington Crosses the Delaware, but is NOT BUGGED BY BUSH'S NSA TEAM!"?
