Couldn't any old DC policeman walk up to Bush and arrest him?
Edited on Fri Dec-23-05 09:47 AM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
Did he not confess to breaking the law and then state that he would continue to break the law? It is a law and it was broken. Then let the courts sort it out. (I'm kidding, but it's a great fantasy)

4. Would the cop be openly shot in the streets...
or suicided? Neither one would surprise me much anymore.

2. Watch the the next episode of Cops:Washington, DC
He's eventually cuffed while drunk and only wearing soiled pajama bottoms. Two officers manage to get him out of the WH, but not before a visibly enraged Laura throws one of Condi's Ferragamos at him.

"I don't want to hear one more fuckin' word about Brown Sugar in our house again!" Laura shouts.

3. Not without a warrant.
Unless the arrest would fall within one of the warrant exceptions. Which I am not seeing.

The original intent of the warrant requirement is that the individual police officers are not given the discretion to decide who can be arrested and who can be charged with a crime. Police officers are charged with carrying out the directions of the courts; these orders are handed down in the form of warrants. The cops themselves don't make the decisions, they execute the decisions made by the courts. The rare exceptions are when the cop witnesses the crime himself or needs to take immediate action to preserve the peace, like when someone starts shooting or the cop apprehends someone in the middle of a burglary.

Our cop-worshipping, authority worshipping society has gotten away from that sensible system.

5. great idea!
meanwhile the crowds surround the scene cheering...

How about a citizen's arrest?
Perhaps one of the secret service care more about the country than Bush? We have to unite all true citizens and isolate the evildoers.
It worked in the Ukraine...
