What are the troops really fighting for ?
They are putting their lives on the line so the Iraqis can have a "democracy"? As our own leaders and our own country goes down the tubes? How sad. They are not fighting to protect us, else they would be here in this country speaking out and fighting for the rights we are losing day by day. Granted, they are no more enlightened than the average American, but it is ironic that our troops are fighting an enemy in Iraq when a more dangerous enemy is right here in America.

1. It's a noble cause, so saith the Shrub.
Cindy Sheehan has been asking what that noble cause is and so far still hasn't gotten an answer.

2. They are chafe
blown about by the winds of war. Like all children of war they fight or die and they become warriors.

Boy that is corny.

Sigh

3. Sadly...
...they are fighting because the Liar in Chief told them to.

The fundamental reasons for the "mission" have already been exposed as lies. The war, by any standards other than dictatorial, is illegal. The American Sheeple have been marketed into patriotic acquiescence. A majority of the Toady Congress has completely abrogated oversight.

The bottom line, it is an executive branch run amok.

Merry Christmas!

5. the troops are not clueless
Don't forget that they are 'the boots on the ground' so have a better idea of how fubar things are in Iraq and have some very enlightening things to say. Read some of the letters from servicemen and women on Mike Moore's site or VAIW.

8. I believe now that they're fighting
for each other now and just to stay alive. They know things are fucked and they're right in the middle of it. They probably had grand ideas at first and bought the liberation line, I don't think that's true any more.

and old family grudges.

I can't wait to hear Hussein's defense call Rummy to the stand.
Many other criminal Reagan-dytes, too.
