My response to John McCain’s comments today.
Because he has now done far more to damage our democracy than those who imprisoned him ever dreamed of, John McCain’s POW credentials sadly no longer count for anything.

He is a much greater threat to the safety of the American people than those who imprisoned him. He hates democracy more than those who imprisoned him. He is much more an enemy of the American people than those who imprisoned him.

Now I understand, Mr. McCain. You were never an American.

He took the
everything changed after 9/11 route. He didn't outright defend bush, he defended him in his squirmy, evil way.

I'll try to find some transcripts.

12. From AP:
Administration officials said congressional leaders had been briefed regularly on the program. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said there were no objections raised by lawmakers who were told about it.

"That's a legitimate part of the equation," McCain said on ABC's "This Week." But he said Bush still needs to explain why he chose to ignore the law that requires approval of a special court for domestic wiretaps.

In other words, McCain apparently has no objections to spying on Americans, as long as Bush explains why he ignores the law.

No transcripts yet.

14. We aren't going to arrest you but
please explain why you robbed that liquor store.

What happened to Rule of Law? What happened to a Nation of Laws?

God it must be good to be king.

2. There is nobody in American politics less
deserving of respect than McCain. Anybody who will accept the abuse of his wife and family like he did in 2000 from the Bush campaign and still support these jackals is something less than a man. Maybe the torture did work in his case - it certainly left him totally wiothout a spine.

7. Here is what the puke Mccain said
Edited on Sun Dec-18-05 05:59 PM by still_one
This occurred during the star investigation:

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?
Because her father is Janet Reno."

mccain deserves everything that he gets. he was against making Martin Luther King a national holday, he took bribes from Keating and company for the S&L crisis

this "media" sensation is a fraud, and an ugly human being

6. John McCain is Playing Us.....and America
I posted this a few days ago from mydd.com, but it is worth a repost here:

http://www.mydd.com/story/2005/11/19/122342/55

Liberals love John McCain. Whether it was the torture amendment or him as a dream VP, McCain has a romantic bipartisan sheen that attracts Democrats. For instance, back in May, 66% of liberals had a favorable impression of McCain, which was at the time higher than Howard Dean. Part of this is because McCain is not nearly as crazy as Bush, and part of it is bills like McCain-Feingold that showed a real commitment to reform of something, even if he isn't actually competent enough to pull it off.

snip

Liberals shouldn't fall for it. John McCain is a corrupt Republican, just like Bush. He doesn't play to the base, preferring instead a 'good government' bipartisan strategy, but he's corrupt, mean-spirited, and puts his ambition above everything else. As Ian pointed out, McCain voted to strip habeas corpus rights in a messy vicious bill. Ian goes on:

Can't torture them, but as long as DOD rules are followed we can lock 'em up forever with no civilian judicial review. And who determines DOD rules? Rumsfeld.

Brilliant. Just Brilliant.

McCain is playing people. He voted for the most fundamental violation of rights possible. If you don't have habeas corpus, you have nothing. "We must not torture them once we throw them in our gulags." Anyone who takes him as a hero because he proposes an amendment that bans torture, while voting against habeas corpus for those prisoners at the same time, is simply a sucker who just got played.

Ian is right. Liberals who like McCain are being played - go through his FEC reports and you'll find a very similar set of business interest donations to the standard Republican. And lest we forget, John McCain has a sordid history of corruption for business interests.

((for that sordid history of corruption, click on the link above))

10. At least he was honest when Stephanopolis said
that liberals love him but they don't know him, he's a conservative repub and pro-life. He agreed with that statement.

I can not for the life of me figure out why any dem would like his politics.

11. McCain is playing us
McCain is a neocon. No doubt about it. I think he plays to the MSM and tries to appear like a progressive that cares about the environment and human rights. I think he is dangerous.

8. Amazing that the torture he endured
made him a stronger man, and being in proximity with the bush admin made him sell his soul.

I wonder what the pricetag was...

I actually couldn't watch the rest of the interview after he started defending bushco. To sad.
