Kristof challenges O'Reilly to visit Darfur with him (Sunday NY Times)

Wow, I can't wait to read this - and see if O'Reilly has the guts to even acknowledge it. Finally calling out the blowhard, this is great.

Kristof challenges O'Reilly to visit Darfur with him
RAW STORY
In Sunday's New York Times, columnist Nicholas D. Kristof challenges Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly to take a trip to Darfur with him to see "a real war against Christmas values," RAW STORY has learned.

Kristof offers "prayers" that O'Reilly and "other money-changers in the temple" will realize that the spirit of Christmas is about helping the needy and that fighting against genocide is a more worthy cause than "hectoring people to say 'Merry Christmas,' rather than 'Happy Holidays.'"

Excerpts from Nicholas D. Kristof's "A Challenge for Bill O'Reilly" follow:

2. What will O'Falafel say in his defense, I wonder?
Probably some bluster about how Kristof "won't come on the Factor because he's afraid," followed by a half-cocked diatribe about the evil secularists that are destroying Christmas.

5. He'll accuse Kristof of name calling, and use that to chicken out.
I can hear it now: "C'mon, Kristof, you don't invite people to travel with you by calling them money changers in the temple. This is nothing but grandstanding. The Factor doesn't deny the tragic problems in Darfur, but we're talking apples and oranges here. Because those tragedies exist in Darfur doesn't mean we should secularize Christmas here in the USA. One has nothing to do with the other. Once again, a media leftie just doesn't get it. And I would prefer to travel with those I like, not those who are. . .fellow travelers. And that's Talking Points." Gawd, I hope they don't see this post, but that's my prediction.

6. Save that post and see if his Talking Points is similar at all.

8. Thanks. I believe I will save it.
As I wrote it, I felt bad if I gave them any hints as to how to get out of a legitimate response.

3. Billy's like the Abominable Snowman in Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
A physically imposing and self-important, but ultimately toothless, blowhard.

7. I always thought it would be a hoot
if a half dozen DUers called up O'LIEly's show, pretending to be rabid rwingers who want to congratualte Mr. Falafel for "supporting the troops"--and when they get online, after praising him for it, asking in all sincerity, "How many USO tours have you been on? The spouse and I were having an argument about it the other day-she said two, but I said, no, at least four. Which one of us is right?" How long before his head would explode? I mean, would he say something nasty and hang up on one of his "fans"?
