"Ex-gay" says movie is "anti-family": "Don't be fooled by Golden Globes!"
'Brokeback Mountain' Anti-Family -- Glorifies Homosexuality, Adultery, Deadly Sex and Deception

Irene and "Ex-gay" Stephen Bennett
HUNTINGTON, Conn. Dec. 14 /Christian Wire Service/ -- "Don't be fooled by Brokeback Mountain's seven Golden Globe nominations. What a sad day in America when a movie that glorifies homosexuality, adultery, dangerous and deadly unprotected anal sex and deception is up for Best Picture of the Year. This anti-family movie sends a very harmful, insidious message to its viewers, cloaked in awards nominations," said Stephen Bennett, host of Straight Talk Radio.

Straight Talk Radio is the very first daily national radio program focusing strictly on the issue of homosexuality and the homosexual agenda from a pro-family perspective, featuring a former homosexual man and his wife as the hosts.

"Brokeback Mountain's nomination for Best Picture of the Year depicts a tragic picture of the all time moral low our culture has sunk to. When a movie based on a short story, containing graphic, explicit, dangerous homosexual anal sex by two men is elevated to Best Picture of the Year, America better wake up. With HIV and AIDS on the rise, and homosexual men dropping dead because of this dangerous, potentially deadly behavior, you better believe, I'll be sounding the alarm on this movie. I've buried too many friends who died from AIDS to keep quiet on this one," said Bennett....

Stephen ended, "I'm just disgusted that the Hollywood elite would stoop to such an all-time low. I pray Americans don't fall for this homosexual propaganda. I'm going to do all I can to tell Americans to 'Beware of Brokeback Mountain.' Thank Annie Proulx and Ang Lee for bringing America to the next moral, all-time low."

1. And so tying gay men to fenceposts and beating them to death
Is the only way to deal with gays in the old west?

I thought that was the absolute moral, all-time low.

4. Thank you for this comment on Matt Shepard.
I'm thinking that's who you meant.

I would love it if more folks in the press would be as alert on their feet as you are against the fundies here.

Bravo.

2. Many Hollywood movies have glorified war.
War, to the extent that tons of bombs have been dropped on civilian populations for example, suggests a persuasively anti-family aspect to me.

The fundies sure are creeped out about wee-wees, aren't they?

5. Sounds more like an ex-human to me
These people are fucking jokes that need to be accepted by a group of people they admire and desperately need to be like. Thing is, there's no such thing as an ex gay just as there is not such thing as an ex hetero. Who wants to bet this man gets caught in a bathroom going down on another guy, REALLY soon?

I'm anti-Family, too! Hopefully, these nutjobs will keep screaming to high heaven. It will only serve to give the movie a whole lot more publicity.

28. Replace "Family" with "Hate"
and you will have a pretty accurate portrayal of most activist groups that use "Family" as part of their moniker.

10. Stephen Bennett can go fuck himself.
It's "shut the fuck up" time for this poor, deluded asshole. If he wants to live in his nice, little, new "oh, so wonderful" heterosexual "lifestyle", fine, whatever. But I'm getting tired of these self-loathing creeps pushing their new talking points from the hatemongers that run these "ex-gay" groups.

on either artistic merit or well-funded promo campaigns. Guess I was missing something.

"Ex-gay":

This goon just went back into the closet and claims to be "ex".

14. I love how he's made a cash cow out of his "conversion"
He's "no longer gay", but...

He has a radio show, where he daily dispanses his obsessions with homosexuality.
Writes books where he writes about homosexuality.
Writes on a blog about homosexuality.
Criticizes a once in a great while gay film, which is another excuse to talk about homosexuality.
...it all sounds pretty gay to me... unless it's a Christian, heterosexual man-on-man hot oil rub down.

Just like hustlers and gay porno stars, Bennett is making money off of his homosexuality. If he can't have sex, at least talk incessantly about it, even if it's all negative. It's the next best thing to being there.:eyes:

"dangerous homosexual anal sex by two men is elevated to Best Picture of the Year, America better wake up. With HIV and AIDS on the rise, and homosexual men dropping dead because of this dangerous, potentially deadly behavior,"

By this argument, movies should show more lesbian sex, because lesbians have the lowest HIV infection rate.

23. Jesus H. Tap Dancing Christ.
Can these people get a grip? It glorifies homosexuality? Better than glorifying war. AND deadly unprotected anal sex? This movie predates the AIDS crisis. AND I am curious if they have even seen this movie. They didn't act all high and mighty about "Desperate Housewives" which glorifies adultery. This only reveals their double-standards.

25. I'm CERTAIN that if my wife and I see it, I'll leave her within days . . .
And move in with the gay guy who lives next door. I'm certain that the insidious power of this evil, evil movie (thanks to the global homosexual conspiracy) will incite me to change my sexual orientation.

In fact, I might become an "ex-straight" just from standing too close to the Brokeback Mountain movie poster.

I'm going to have to watch my step in the theater, I tell you what!

27. Actually, I have a SERIOUS question regarding this issue....
If Brokeback Mountain can influence men to fall in love with other men, the why in the hell can't the fucking Dawn commercial convince MY husband to wash the fucking dishes every now and then? What the hell!?!!??! Is it the chaps? The cowboy hat? What influences you men to do things you never thought you would do before? Speak up because I'm taking notes over here.

I welcome all serious answers to my torturous questions.

They saw the movie, sported a chubby at the rump-rollicking, and were filled with righteous indignation/burning desire. They now feel a need to convince themselves they are still ex-gay.

35. Welcome to DU

I agree completely. I think the whole "ex-gay" thing is a bunch of hooey. They aren't "ex-gay", they're just hiding the fact that they're still gay, or they're bi. No amount of repression and religion will change what they really are.

with the wife and 2.5 kids and the Beemer on loan from the company...and just swoosh, the wife took me to this film and now I want to move in with the mail clerk guy.

Happend just like that.

Can't believe it. 35 years of being hetro, and that damn movie turned me. Also, I don't want to be an account executive anymore, I want to be a cowboy. Raise some sheep.

I just ditched the Beemer for a 150 crew cab with KD Lang blaring through the speakers.

I'm headed to either Texas or Wyoming.
