Supposedly people feel if we left Iraq the Iraqis would come over here
and kill us in our beds. They say Iraq is a nation that sponsors terrorism so we must "fight them over there instead of over here". What other nations do we consider sponsors of terrorism? Iran is one. Why aren't Americans hiding under their beds worried to death that Iranians will come "over here" to kill them. Another Sponsor of Terrorism is North Korea. I know Republicans have been soiling themselves with fear that a North Korean Soldier will be knocking at their door soon..Why is it just the Iraqis that will "fight us over here" and if it is those other countries then by Gawd we should be "fighting them over there" right now....Am I the only one to see there is a problem with this mind set?

1. as ridiculous as their argument is
sadly they have made it more true than less by attacking them.

Now, they have a quasi-legitimate reason to come here and attack us: revenge.

2. Everyone outside the bubble knows it's total BS.
Those inside the bubble know they will lose their fat paychecks the minute they call bullshit on this line of reasoning.

We lost the war with Vietnam. Now we do have Vietnamese in the US......growing strawberries!!! Terrorism is a tactic used for political ends. Only a incredibly tiny number of people blow up other people for no reason. Even Timothy McVeigh had a twisted reason. If we address the political problem the terrorism stops. It's that simple.

3. They are out of touch with the reality of what Terrorism is.

They are ignorant and lying to themselves if they think all Iraqis will forget who killed whom - Ever!

Wherever Muslims are all over the world, there will forever be a few, like some of our Christians, who support killing for "___________". And 9/11 demonstrates, a few people can do BIG harm. We are sitting ducks.

It really is the dumbest idea, that they'd fight us just in Iraq.

5. Frustrating, isn't it? I think they throw out lines, find one that "works"
and bingo! that's a policy...regardless of the leap in logic needed to hold it together.

It's similar to the thinking that Wolfowitz used when he described the WMD line as the easiest one to sell...not the most important, threatening, or even honest of justifications for war, but the easiest one to sell.

7. what do you think Frank Luntz does for them?
focus groups/ test marketing of the ideas and total language manipulation in order to sell the ideas. i'm sick of it, just as i am sick of advertising in general (the twisted use of psychological science to get us to spend $$ on stuff we don't really need...but somehow desperately WANT). that won't change a damn thing. watched it play out over my lifetime and expect it to bring the world as we know it to an end.

6. bc the people are sheep...they believe what they are told to believe
and right now, and for the past 4 years, they've been told to fear Iraq. no worries...when WH wants them to fear Iran, we'll start (actually have already started hearing the build-up, though subtle right now) -- we'll start to hear about Iran and the imminent threat it poses to Americans. we'll hear how Iran's been plotting against us. maybe there will even be some terrible attack that can be linked to (if not blamed on) Iran. and then people will want to fight Iran over there so we won't have to fight them at home. and so on and so forth.............etc, etc, etc.
