...remember? They turned down your billboard 48 hours after they received the artwork and 24 hours after the contract was signed. You might recall they did so because they deemed the ads "negative," and they don't run negative ads. Accept, it would seem, in special circumstances:

28. In algebra,
If a=b, and b=c, then it follows that a=c.

So if Anti-God = Anti-American, and Anti-American = treason, then I guess to be Anti-God is treasonous? Is that in the Constitution?

Nooooooo!!!111! Tell me that's not true. Next you will tell me that the Constitution wasn't taken word for word from the bible.

What's a poor agnostic to believe these days?

Wait, being agnostic, I'm safe. I'm not anti-God, I'm not for God, I'm neutral. I'm like the Switzerland of religion.

I'll be ok now, don't worry about me.

It would go right over his head (but not really a high bar to cross I imagine).

It never ceases to amaze me the mentality of some people. I can only imagine the torture going on in his own mind to actually believe in such an angry, ugly god.

and of course the idiotic assumption that not beleiving in 'their' religion means someone is evil or anti-American. These are some very hateful and even dangerous people. I wish someone would post the e-maill addy of that hypocritical company that said they would not allow negative messages- actually not hard to find I guess.
I am sure they only support "Christian" religions too, but hopefully most Christians are not this idiotic or hateful.

Edited on Wed Dec-07-05 10:21 PM by MountainLaurel
I'm from the same town, and he's been doing these billboards for years now. I see them everytime I go home to see my folks. This one combines a few of his favorite themes: abortion, atheists, peacemongers, homosexuals, etc. He's older than dirt, and lives in a nursing home. The bridge across Monongah is named after him; now I've got even more reason to be nauseous when I cross it. Oh well, I'll have to take the 'rents dogs and encourage them to piss on it every 10 feet (which one of them tends to do anyway).

For a little more about the good father:

44. Thank you for that background.
:toast:

Long, long ago when Republicans were all rich and guys like Briggs didn't vote, this kind of paranoid vitriol was almost a quaint reminder of why we have a First Amendment, despite all its eccentricities. Unfortunately, now that these nuts think they own the First Amendment, it's become atrophied from disuse.

Lamar Outdoor Advertising
Phone: 1-800-23-LAMAR This hateful message really implies a lot, and I think we have a right to know exactly what their intentions are.
I am checking on info on this church? Ok from what I could gather this nut has been a priest for over 70 years, so he is very old, and I wonder - a PO box -perhaps it wasn't the church actually-just an old senile nut.
But the Lamar people should know better- the sign is hateful, and does not compalin about a specific incident.
I am surprised in a way- because- some folks- like my own mom (Southern Baptist)- a long time ago, actually beleived all the Catholics were going to hell, sometimes folks just don't get it- even when they have been at the other end of bigotry.
Oh well good night.

I called the toll free * and the Lamar spokesperson I spoke with said the sign was removed- by someone else (perhaps the community)and he agreed that the sign never should have been posted-and they were going to remove it, but it was laredy down, the man who contracted for the sign is 92/oh 97 years old-see above note-looney tunes geezer.
I told him that I respected that his company did agree the sign should come down. I still signed the above linked petition of course.

46. Hey Reverend, you idiot, read your history
If you do, you'll find that America is not a Christian nation, as passed into law, and written by our forefathers. The following was written into the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli: "As the Government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion;" This treaty, with this wording, was passed by both houses of Congress, and signed into law by John Adams. The passage itself was written either by Washington or Adams.

I hate fundy idiots who are ignorant of our history.
