Below is s response from ABC for a letter that was written to them. I don't know how true it is, but worth reading, especially if it is true.

AN ABC MESSAGE YOU HAVE TO READ
If more of us took a stand maybe we could have some decent TV programs.

Jim writes:

My name is Jim Neugent. I wrote to ABC (on-line) concerning a program called "THE PRACTICE." In last nights episode, one of the lawyer's mothers decided she is gay and wanted her son to go to court and help her get a marriage license so she could marry her 'partner.'! I sent the following letter to ABC yesterday and really did not expect a reply, but I did get one.

My original message was:

ABC is obsessed (or should I say abscessed) with the subject of homosexuality. I will no longer watch any of your attempts to convince the world that homosexuality is OK. THE PRACTICE can be a fairly good show, but last night's program was so typical of your agenda. You picked the 'dufus' of the office to be the one who was against the idea of his mother being gay and made him look like a whiner because he had convictions. This type of mentality calls people like me a "gay basher." Read the first chapter of Romans (that's in the Bible) and see what the apostle Paul had to say about it.... He, God and Jesus were all 'gay bashers'. What if she'd fallen in love with her cocker spaniel? Is that an alternative life style? (By the way, the Bible speaks against that, too.)

How about getting your nose out of the Bible (which is ONLY a book of stories compiled by MANY different writers hundreds of years ago) and read the declaration of independence (what our nation is built on), where it says "All Men are Created equal," and try treating them that way for a change! Or better yet, try thinking for yourself and stop using an archaic book of stories as your lame crutch for your existence. You are in minority in this country and your boycott will not affect us or our freedom of statement.

But curiously doesn't cite a verse. That may perhaps be because there is no verse in Romans 1 that refers specifically to homosexuality. He is also silent on just where in the Bible Jesus is supposed to be a gay basher. Surely someone so well-versed (no pun intended) in the Bible could come up with even one scriptural citation to buttress his argument.

Because I can sure point to a lot of biblical verses that have hard things to say about people who bear false witness, who are obsessed with the letter of the law without understanding its spirit, and who pass judgment on others.

This TV show actually has topless women on it - and no the boobs aren't pixellated over. It shows people taking cocaine, smoking a joint, taking 'E', getting extremely drunk, having sex, and other kinds of adult acts. Oh, and one of the key characters is openly gay (and pretty camp about it too).

Personally I find it a dreadful TV show and it borders on soft porn in places. But it's one of those shows that is so bad that it's actually good.

Interestingly last year Fox optioned this program from Sky (where Murdoch owns a significant share and has influence of, but not total ownership of, the satellite TV platform) but to date has not developed it or aired anything further.

Also Mr. Neugent recommends reading the first chapter of Romans (which is a letter from the Apostle Paul sent to a group of Roman Christians), meaning to draw us into Romans 1:26-27, where it refers that God gave the people who abandoned Him over to "homosexuality". However the whole chapter when read through, and the next one too, you will discover that the apostle Paul is actually saying that mankind had turned away from God and was therefore driven to do evil acts, and Paul had lumped homosexuality into it as a description of an evil thing. God Himself didn't say that it was evil but Paul implied it in his letter. Also Mr. Neugent needs to read 1 Samuel 18:20, paying particular attention to 18:1-4. Why would Johnathan strip naked in front of David? That's particuarly peculiar behaviour, and suggests that David and Johnathon in the Old Testament had a sexual relationship. And these were God's favored people!

The argument for and against homosexuality in the Bible I am sure will rage on for ever. You can understand my interpretation from what's above.
