Christmas is not under attack damnit
Four private houses are decorated on my block tonight. There gawdy as hell but other than that does anyone care beacause that they are on private property? My church has a nativety scene on display on it's private property does anyone care? No what people are saying is that it's rude for people to put one persons religion above all others. Whats so hard to understand? It's called common curteosy. Or am I missing something. Now if you excuse me I have to go and put up my Festivus pole in my basement.

10. It's all about whipping the masses into an angered frenzy
misdirecting focus from the failed War in Iraq. Nothing solidifies support as does hate.

Please pray for the safety of the peace activists taken hostage in Iraq.

20. I would says Bush and his gang of thugs are doing massive damage to the...
meaning of Christmas.

This whole "Happy Holidays" versus "Merry Christmas" is beyond idiotic.

How about "Happy Birthday, Jesus"?

3. Certainly not by saying "Happy Holidays".
A large retailer can expect to have people of many different beliefs coming to their store. Saying "Happy Holidays" is just good business sense...it doesn't alienate anybody.

It's certainly not an attack on Christmas.

9. Exactly Merc
The right are so desperate that they're trying to invent an issue. If a buisness switches from Merry Christmas to Happy Holidays, it's not because they're under pressure to do so. It may be because they want to attract more clients/customers.

I find this issue so ridiculous that it's actually funny to me now.

11. who can be offended by a "Merry Xmas" ?
in the most Christian nation on earth where according to polls 70% of the population believes that the Bible is a FACTUAL book...

Nobody in Europe is offended, it's not even an issue here. Xmas is first of all a pagan holiday, a time of the year...

What have reindeers to do with Jesus ?

The secular Christmas is becoming more an more popular in Muslim countries. And Muslims consider him as a great prophet....

12. Breaking News...Faux reports that Christmas was attacked 3 hours ago
What seem to be a terrorist attack, one of Santa's main reindeers was hijacked over Greenland and is reported to be headed for a suicide mission over the North Pole.

Dateline: sometime near the winter solstice

The president was on his vacation when this happened and was unavailable because he was nestled all snug in his bed,
While visions of Rice-plums danced in his head;

, but the Vice president was able to call up Norad immediately from his undisclosed bunker instead

. The f-16s, even though they were only 50 miles away
from Thule Air Base in Greenland couldn't find them on a map

they called the president again but he was still taking a nap.

When right wing noise arose with such a clatter,

They got the masses and fundamentalist all churned up to tell them what mattered.

It was the master of hate,
the falafel king, o'reily
calling together his ditto heads
to propagandize like the late
Herman Goring.

On Coulter
On Rush
On Hannity
On Savage

To the top of the vile
To the bottom of the bucket
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!"

Churn up the hate
a good time to make the democrats fall

Because Christmas was never attacked
at all.

Seasons Greeting
and to all a good life
for all religions creeds and thoughts

14. Priorities assessed --- hmm, let's see ---
o Endless Death and Quagmire in Iraq.
o Staggering deficit at home.
o Last 2 presidential elections stolen.
o Medical Insurance system totally dysfunctional.
o Corruption & cronyism rampant (Halliburton).
o Country more bitterly divided than any time since Civil War.
o Education system so underfunded most students couldn't identify Iraq (or Minnesota) on a map.
o Constitution & Bill of Rights under attack ("Patriot" Act).
o Corporations and top 1% of wealthiest individuals continue to receive huge tax cuts while middle class gets screwed to the wall.
o Extremist theocratic "Christians" trying to establish/impose/legalize an American Talibanate.
o Mainstream media brought to you by Judy Miller, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Michelle Malkin, etal.
o Culture so debased that Jessica Simpson & Brittney Spears are "Superstars".
o National resources and ecosystem being raped by corporate interests.
o We are now officially known by the rest of the world as torturers.
o Congresspeople only concerned with packing pork $$ for their home states/districts into omnibus bills.

o And then there's the Happy Holidays vs. Merry Christmas brouhaha?!?!

I suggest we have more IMPORTANT things to worry about than the "Happy Holidays" controversy. I suggest that despite the best efforts of hypocritical Pharisees like Pat Robertson & Jerry Falwell the USA is not yet officially a Christian nation and Happy Holidays (in a public, tax-supported, non-church arena) is more appropriate/inclusive than Merry Christmas. I suggest if Jesus himself were to pay us a visit today he'd be more concerned with homeless, hungry American children, and Iraqi children being killed, maimed and blown to bits because of our lust for oil.

18. Finally a war Conservatives can feel good about.
The War on Terror is so passe. Iraq War? TIE-URD! The war all the cool conservatives are ranting about is so much more fun: The War Against Christmas!

This is one of the GOPs more transparent big distractions. Transparent that is if you have half a brain. So it’s scary to think about how much buys this garbage and commences foaming at the mouth. The other day I heard one of these GOP morons bitching on Air America radio about how they went into WalMart (where else) and were told “Happy Holidays”. I mean, what the fuck, do I LOOK like a jew? It’s fucking CHRISTMAS you goddamn communist.

Lets ponder for a minute. If Jesus were around today do you think he’d support his followers declaring a “war” over people not mentioning the celebration of his birth BY NAME? I kinda doubt it, but then again i’m not a “Christian.”

No matter. The GOP has dispatched thier flying monkey brigade pundit corp. People like Bill O’reily are all over the the airways these days with the latest GOP talking points in hand, breathlessly warning us all about the evil liberal/secular conspiracy to off Christianity by eliminating Christmas. It’d be hillarious if it weren’t so damn effective for the GOP.

Why do Conservatives hate Liberals? Because we love to kill babys (not embryos), because we want to grant pedophiles the right to marry seven year olds, and because we are trying to kill Christmas. This is how a lot of these people think. Oh and remember Kerry’s first act in office was going to be an executive order banning the Bible (this was actually mailed to GOP voters in the South.)

Media Matters:

Fox’s Gibson: Christians tolerate those who are “following the wrong religion … as long as they’re civil and behave”

Throughout his promotion of his book, The War on Christmas: How the Liberal Plot to Ban the Sacred Christian Holiday Is Worse Than You Thought (Sentinel, October 2005), Fox News host John Gibson has remained vague about exactly who he believes is orchestrating the alleged attack on Christmas beyond the “liberals” in the book’s title. For instance, as Media Matters for America documented, during an appearance on the October 20 edition of The O’Reilly Factor, Gibson limited his criticism of those supposedly undermining Christmas to “liberals.” O’Reilly, on the other hand, was compelled to narrow the focus of their offensive: “I think you made a mistake by saying it’s a liberal plot,” O’Reilly told Gibson. “It’s the far left. It’s the loony left, the Kool-Aid secular progressive ACLU America-haters. That’s who’s doing this.”

Gibson was more pointed, however, during a November 17 appearance on Janet Parshall’s nationally syndicated radio program. During a discussion about the alleged “war on Christmas,” Gibson suggested that people “following the wrong religion” were not reciprocating the tolerance afforded to them by “the majority religion — Christianity.” He also said that as long as adherents of minority religions “are civil and they behave,” Christians will tolerate them “without causing any trouble” — a view endorsed by Parshall.

GIBSON: No, no, no. If you figure that — listen, we get a little theological here, and it’s probably a bit over my head, but I would think if somebody is going to be — have to answer for following the wrong religion, they’re not going to have to answer to me. We know who they’re going to have to answer to.

PARSHALL: Right.

GIBSON: And that’s fine. Let ‘em. But in the meantime, as long as they’re civil and behave, we tolerate the presence of other religions around us without causing trouble, and I think most Americans are fine with that tradition.

PARSHALL: I agree.

GIBSON: In other words, they’d like it in return.

21. Was it Lowe's who started this war saying it was POLITICALLY
CORRECT to call the Christmas season the Holiday season. Who does Lowe's contribute more to, republicans or democrats? If it is republicans, then are they saying that the republican party is attacking the word Christmas?

22. These nutjobs should not even be engaged on this. Everyone
should just stand back and ask "What's your problem?" I'm so sick of the caterwauling about how victimized these cultist think they are. And I don't count them as Christians because they worship all the things that Christ taught were venal and unworthy.
