I've seen video tape of our newspaper and I do believe it is trying to say something. I'm going to keep reading it and when I find an original thought I'll prove to you that its alive.

2. yes, long live the newspaper...
I have been contemplating subscribing to the Joplin Glope...the local paper here is a joke, and it only comes out once a week, and the editor wrote a piece this past summer, about how proud he was, that he could afford gas for his damn trucks....so, I defineatly want the joplin globe, its a step up from the Mcdonald County Press....

Some things are still sacred.

11. No No No
I work for a newspaper, and I'm still breathing, last I checked.

Maybe the role of newspapers has changed, and the Internet has taken a bigger chunk and TV has a bigger role in fluff and puff and slice and dice news. But in terms of real substance and local news, that good ol' dead trees and ink is still alivbe and kicking.

(And don forget where a lot of the Internet news comes from. It's just recycled electrons from print publications.)

13. Metaphorically speaking.
You have noticed that virtually every newspaper has it's own online content. You also have noticed that readership of the pulp variety is in a steady decline. You have also noticed that the "papers of record" have tarnished their images irreparably by not having a vigilant enough editorial board or actively succumbing to corporate pressure. Additionally, you have noticed that one doesn't have to have graduated from J-school to be able to represent facts to readers. This has led you to notice that there are effectively millions of citizen-journalists as opposed to a hand-picked few. This has you thinking that once the accreditation/access hurdle is overcome, you'll be looking for a new line of work or moving over to online portion of the "paper."

May I commend you on your observational skills! ;)
