are they the same 3000 from 6 months ago? Its a pretty good bet that jihadists come into Iraq for training then leave and take that training to other countries to develop cells. If that is the case then yes indeed we have trained many thousands of terrorists very very well. Showing our ass... our soft underbelly of military ops to not only them but the entire world. China, Russia, Korea, all of S.A. are all studying the shit out of the war and occupation of Iraq in case they ever come to blows with us. I dare say they have all learned some very valuable information that really endangers our troops in future conflicts.
Also even though there is overlap between the insurgency and AQ in Iraq they are not even close to being one and the same. Terrorist actions typically do not target the military forces directly (though they do every now and then), insurgents rarely attack a civilian population. To call insurgents terrorists is to dumb down something incredibly complex and worthy of in depth study. The bottom line is that if you call insurgents terrorists because civilian fatalities sometimes result from there actions then you'd have to call Coalition troops terrorists for the same reasons.
To not delineate the difference here is to further play into not only bushcos memes but to bolster AQ in Iraqs claims of legitimacy by tyeing them to the legitimate insurgency (I've seen Liberals doing this and it bugs the hell out of me). Why is the insurgency legitimate? Well was this war wrong? and how many levels? in so many different ways? History is going to mark our country for this for generations.
Anyway sorry for going on at length, and apologies if the article itself is a dupe.
