I'm watching this C-SPAN stuff today and MY GOD! This is the lowest I've seen the government go since, well, Terri Schiavo.

I just...I...wow. But is anyone else just kinda sitting there in disbelief?

7. It seems to me the repukes are trying to stay in power on the backs of the
troops. They really don't give as much of a shit about the troops as they do about keeping their asses in power.

17. Gee, do ya think? I thought that they were just embarassed about
crowing about it so much in 2000 and they didn't want to look like ungracious winners. :sarcasm:

8. We have no government
We have a cynical liars club that spends our money slapping us in the face. It's a damn shame that fine people like John Murtha even have to associate with them. I'm ashamed and disgusted that our country has come to this.

15. As an older American I feel exhausted. I have been
through this debate before. Entrenched idiots on one side and realists on the other.

This is the same debate that went on in homes, schools and congress for what seemed like a thousand years during the Vietnam era. In fact, some of the Repug speakers tonight were clearly having flashbacks and speaking about the 60's and 70's not 2005.

What drivel from the right. The one thing I think that will be different this time is that it won't split families by generation as Vietnam did. The kids of the Vietnam era had to do battle with their WWII parents. It split families that remain broken to this day.

I don't think support for Vietnam actually ever fell below 50%. At least support for this war is in the tank. That is why this was a tactical mistake by the Repugs - the people disagree with their challenge to Murtha and continued supported for Bush and it shines a bright light on their idiocies.

16. More like laughing
What else do you expect? It's the US Congress. They all throw out words like "patriot", and phrases such as "support the troops", in every sentence that it loses whatever meaning it ever had to begin with. Sort of the way "freedom and democracy" has been overused to the point where I'd rather it not exist(if it even does), than to hear it uttered again.
