So we're basically screwed either way?
If the Dems vote for it, they're voting for a screwed up resolution, not like the one that Murtha put forward. If they don't vote for it, the Republicans and their butt buddies at the media can say the democrats aren't really for ending the war.

Do I have this right, and if so...then what the fuck are they supposed to do?

7. Exactly. We're showing principles.
The tide has turned. The American people are now awake to the lies of the W administration in getting us into this insane war.

3. Sounds right to me.
Their only out is to try and explain that this wasn't their resolution but that is too long and convoluted for the MSM and general pop. to figure out.

12. Pre-Katrina, this works. After Katrina, it doesn't
I think the people will see through this cheap trick and see that it's a cynical manipulation of what Murtha said. I didn't see the overwhelmingly distorted press that I saw before Katrina.

This is not going to work. This genie is out of the bottle and it's not going back in. The American people have turned on the originators of this war and don't trust them.

We are winning!

14. Win or lose this is the fight we should have had three years ago.
There will be no more easy victories for the ReTHUGS. No more business as usual. We may lose every battle but we WILL win the war.

15. We've been screwed since January 2000. What else can
another screwing do to us. We need some laws to make our politicians accountable for what has happened in the past five years. Politics isn't a game when innocent people's lives are at stake.

For beginners I want all my elected officials to take an oath of veracity when they take the oath of office. They would swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, in any official business they conduct. There should be severe penalties for breaking the oath. I'm really fed up with the criminal actions of this present federal government and I want them to be accountable, now as well as in the future.
