Barf Alert:He will go down in history as great president even if he lied
Jonah Goldberg:
A lie for a just cause

STOP ME IF YOU'VE heard this already. But there are people out there — honest, decent, sincere people and deranged moonbats, too — who think that George W. Bush lied about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein. No, seriously, it's true. "Bush lied, people died" is one of their catchier slogans.

Now, I'm not one of these people, but let's assume they're right.
What if Bush did lie, big time? What, exactly, would that mean? If you listen to Bush's critics, serious and moonbat alike, the answer is obvious: He'd be a criminal warmonger, a failed president and — most certainly — impeachment fodder. Even Bush's defenders agree that if Bush lied, it would be a grave sin. For example, the Wall Street Journal recently accused Harry Reid & Co. of becoming "Clare Boothe Luce Democrats" for even suggesting that Bush would deceive the public. Luce, a Republican, had insisted that FDR "lied us into war." And this, the Journal editorialized, was a "slander" many paranoid Republicans took to their graves.

If Bush succeeds — still a big if — the painful irony for Bush's critics is that he will go down in history as a great president, even if he lied, while they will take their paranoia to their graves.

4. But....but....Clinton lied and he would have been a great President if
only he hadn't lied to us. Right? So * can lie to us and he's still a great President?? WTF?

They keep moving the bar, I can't keep it all straight in my head anymore.

a war. Period. That is the ultimate abuse from which all other abuses are measured, and Bush is guilty of it.

If Goldberg is now willing to admit that Bush lied, and defend it- fine. I'm sure he'll attract a few like-minded wannabee fascists who will agree with him and cling to their treasonous little failed dictator.

7. poor Mr. Goldberg
The man is arguing from a position of cranial rectal misadventure.

One thing I notice here is even Goldberg is starting to sweat. He added 'if bush succeeds - a big if' two years ago, last year, you'd never see that qualifier.

And just what are the chances that * will succeed? Pretty much none - so all of Goldberg's writing is just gasbag bullshit. Hell LBJ would be remembered as a great president if he'd won the viet nam war but that didn't happen either.

Is it just me, or was this a big fat mistake?

12. I'm sure it was a great idea to pull troops out of Afghanistan...
...before we completed our mission there. I'm sure none of our troops died unnecessarily because it, and that the Al Quida threat is now over thanks to this "lie for a just cause."

What a stupid piece of shit.

13. I'm sure history will give * what he deserves in terms of
reputation. You can bury and hide or destroy everything. And, if you piss enough people off, they'll tell all eventually. Some might even have consciouses and tell all for the right reason.

14. His entire presidency has been a complete failure
he has not accomplished one thing! All he does is lie, screw things up and then blame others for what he's done.

Look at what he's doing right now. Instead of taking responsibility for the Iraq mess, he's pointing fingers again. That's all he knows how to do. He should go down as the "I didn't do it" president. Absolutely no accountability.

Look: When they were cannonizing Rayguns for a *week*, lots of us still had no problem remembering his true legacy: homelessness, torture, slaughter of innocents . . .

PUSH BACK.

This guy would be wearing a paper hat for a living if mommy wasn't already in publishing and in the propaganda business. He is a punk moron, and my dog has more knowledge of economics and geopolitics.

21. What if they lie to me?
I have no self respect. It's ok lie to me. I hate myself. I'm stupid too. I probably deserve to be lied to. I'm sure he'd tell the truth to me if only I was a better person. Only good people are allowed to lie. The more they lie, the better they are. Hey and maybe it will all work out anyways. Maybe WMD will magically appear in Iraq 2 years ago and make the war worth it. Maybe all those dead people that were killed cause of the fake war... well maybe they will come back to life. It could happen. My mom told me so.

22. Tu Quoque, anyone?
They love to "tu quoque" Roosevelt and Clinton -- meaning that saying, "but, but you did it, too" is their only defense. It also happens to be a LOGICAL FUCKING FALLACY, Goldberg.
