Colbert Report question
does it seem to anyone else that sometimes the guests don't realize that Stephen is being facetious? LOL

Or do they rebutt so seriously only to go ahead and get their message heard?

example: Rev. Al Sharpton.

It always ends well, I was just wondering if anyone else was wondering the same thing.

1. Bob Kerry was a complete dick
last night. But I have to say, Steven Colbert's schtick is good for 5 minute segments. After that its annoying.

2. I think what he's doing is brilliant.
And no, I don't think all of his guests (or all of his audience) entirely get what he's doing.

I admire his commitment to the character he's playing.

It's an excellent caricature.

3. you could ask the same of The Daily Show
as much as we think they would/should know, a lot of people are completely clueless.

4. I think it is disconcerting for them. All the time I watch I want Colbert
to be himself and not the character, and follow up on something important a guest has said - rather than being in character and quashing it down.

It is weird. You sort of get hints of brilliance & the truth and then he "the character" moves on quickly. Perhaps it is just like the Daily Show and will take a little while for us all to get used to the style. I know I watched my first few DS in bewilderment. Till I finally got it.

Tonight colbert was amazing when he argued with himself on torture.

5. I think he's brilliant as well.
I guess I'm just sort of surprised that his guests often don't seem
to be told beforehand that Stephen is going to say weird, obnoxious, right-wing-partisan things. But maybe they don't make a point of telling people, because it IS more funny that way.

6. When will Target sponsor the Colbert Report?

It'd be a trifecta of French tease.

Random thought: I wonder if the writers use Roget's Thesaurus.

7. you could ask the same thing of the M$M
don't the guests know that it is all farce?

I often ask myself why anyone would agree to an interview with one of the TDS "correspondents."
