4. I think it is disconcerting for them. All the time I watch I want Colbert
to be himself and not the character, and follow up on something important a guest has said - rather than being in character and quashing it down.
It is weird. You sort of get hints of brilliance & the truth and then he "the character" moves on quickly. Perhaps it is just like the Daily Show and will take a little while for us all to get used to the style. I know I watched my first few DS in bewilderment. Till I finally got it.
Tonight colbert was amazing when he argued with himself on torture.
I guess I'm just sort of surprised that his guests often don't seem to be told beforehand that Stephen is going to say weird, obnoxious, right-wing-partisan things. But maybe they don't make a point of telling people, because it IS more funny that way.
