Newsweek quote pissed off my non-political parents
Edited on Wed Oct-15-03 10:11 AM by Fenris
My parents don't like politics the way I do (or rather, they don't hate politics the way I do). But I read them this quote from the latest Newsweek and both of them had a look of utter disbelief and disgust.

http://www.msnbc.com/news/979358.asp

Will the Dittoheads forgive him? Probably. Gary Bauer, president of the conservative organization American Values, drew a distinction between a crack addict and Limbaugh’s brand of addiction. “From a moral standpoint, there’s a difference between people who go out and seek a high and get addicted and the millions of Americans dealing with pain who inadvertently get addicted,” Bauer told NEWSWEEK.

Now, my parents are in their 50s, so they have done their fair share of illegal substances. But this comment blew their mind. A moral distinction between Rush Limbaugh paying his maid to illegally buy him presrciption painkillers and some one who pays money to a dealer to support his addiction to crack? Rush has someone do his dirtywork for him, but he is morally superior to a crack addict? This is utter, utter, UTTER bullshit.

1. If right wingers are correct about dying and meeting the Lord
at the pearly gates, they sure must get a real bitch slap from St Peter each time one of them shows up.

Imagine Gary Bauer standing at the gates of heaven just knowing he is saved and waiting to get his golden palace and his cushy seat at the right side of God, then St Peter tells him that in all reality he lived a life of a religious hypocrite and must now go to hell for all his bullshit lies!

2. I'm glad they were disgusted....I was reading some of the
"newsweek" article last night and when I got to the "gary bauer" part I just threw it across the room and turned off the light for bed.

Glad I didn't go to sleep with that on my mind!

This is the ilk we are dealing with but then we knew that.

It's good to know, though, because now I can counteract real fast that rush is no better than anyone who is addicted.

In fact he's worse because he's such a Damn Hypocrite!

We call them Hypoditts! }(

3. "Rush" Phlegmball did'nt seek to get high....
Excuse me....if you are USING drugs you do so because

1. you want to get high...

if you are ABUSING drugs you do so because

1. you want to get high...

AND

2. you are addicted

When you stop wanting to be high....you can start to work on breaking the addiction...fist is the mental desire to want to be high then the physical addiction can be treated.

Essentially - A drug induced Limbaugh has been fouling peoples minds with his drug influenced sence of reality for many years.

I hope he becomes a different man when he comes clean....

8. Tell me Rush wasn't into THE RUSH
or are 25,000 pills just taken one at a time as indicated for pain?

He even emailed his producer to get him a bunch before he left for rehab so he could "go out with a bang"

9. Rush = an addict with money
So he doesn't have to steal hubcaps to buy his dope. He's a still a dope-head.
