How did you like Rush's replacement today?

The one who started his show by talking about how he didn't want torture "off the table" even though he doesn't think this is what we are about as a country.

The guy who was essentially talking out of both sides of his ass today.

Those who listened, what did you think?

As I surf looking for talk, I will stop at Rush for a few moments, but often I don't, or can't, stay long.

The question, for those who listened, was what they thought. The question was not whether I should even darken my radio dial with that station.

Though, of course, any mention of Rush almost always elicits such responses.

I know what some folks here think about even listening to such crap. I'm not a regular listener. I surf and end up there on occasion. Today I heard that familiar nasal tone of the local guy and stopped.

Thank you for your concern, nonetheless. I do have Big Eddie at 2 and Randi when she'll come in from Ohio at 5. So I get my prog radio in. Just not all the time here in Freeperville.

I heard just as much as I hear of Rush's nonsense any other day, which is to say none at all. Any time I hear him I get so screaming mad that I've put dents into the dashboard of my poor car.

As much as I like hearing what the psychos are saying now and again, I had to part ways with him for fear of taking up like Michael Douglas in Falling Down.

3. I know where to find liberal radio here in freeperville, but it's not on until 2.
4. just happened to be surfing by on my way across the dial and heard the familiar voice. I know some folks here listen sometimes. And so I wondered what they thought of the local guy.
5. wasn't looking for advice on my radio habits. Just what people thought of my local asshat.

14. Like yourself

a confluence of events led me to listen to about 20 minutes of the show. Was the guy's name Mark Belling? I didn't really catch it. As far as what he was saying, I can see his point. If you remove the option to torture, then you can't use the THREAT of torture to extract information, since it will just be an empty threat. I am 100% against torture, however, if information can be extracted without hurting anyone, simply by describing what you intend to do, then I don't have nearly as much of an issue with it. I don't believe that would be a good or effective interrogation tactic to use (making threats), but I don't think I'd protest in the streets to stop anyone from threatening a suspect.

that he seemed to think that it might be an effective technique in some circumstances. But from what I've heard, aside from being barbaric, it's not an effective way of getting info, as the suspect will tell you damn near anything, even if he knows nothing, to get you to stop.

Yes, his name is Mark Belling. He's more reasonable when he's being Rush than he is when he's here. Even so, I thought he was walking a tightrope between "it's not what America's about" and "but we wouldn't want it off the table in case we need it." I thought I heard him say he would want them to use it as not just a threat if it was needed. Maybe I'm wrong. I did switch it off after about 5 minutes. That's all I can take of either Rush or Mark.

I much prefer Eddie and Randi when I can get them in.
