Effects Of Bush "I Am Not A Liar" Speech In: Rasmussen -3 Point Drop
Looks like the amalgam of empty absurd threats and rehashed 9-11 bunkum that the right was calling the beginning of Bush's recovery didn't fool very many folks. A full Rasmussen polling cycle since last Friday's Bushie bombast has now passed, and the results are not very good for the Kennebunkport Cowboy.

Today......43% Approval 55% Disapproval

Sunday...46% Approval 53% Disapproval

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Bush_Job_Approval.htm

Caveat: I know Rasmussen's numbers are inflated, and that more reputable polls show him 6 to 8 percentage points below 43%. However, had Friday night's histrionics actually begun moving Bush's numbers up, wouldn't Rasmussen have been all over it?

2. The same lies, rehashed
speech, and bullshit is not going to save them. The media is so desperately pushing this "comeback" meme, it really is disgusting isn't it.

5. Yes, many American's default to trust but become unmovable
once they lose it.

Bush may never be able to reclaim it.

And the good part of that is he then becomes completely impotent as a mouth piece for the GOP mafia's Contract on America.

Rove held the GOP together like the bands on a barrel. Now broken the staves are parting.

4. Incredibly clumsy
When Nixon said, I am not a crook, everyone knew for sure he was. His defense is ludicrous, that "democrats had the same intelligence I did and more than 100 of them voted for war." That's two lies right there. Democrats had CHERRY PICKED INTELLIGENCE, and plain out and out bogus crap, like the estimates that war would take six months tops and would only cost $1 billion because the Iraqi oil would pay all the costs. Anything that said that Saddam was faking it, that any chemical weapons he had would have rotted away by now, etc. was ruthlessly quashed. Anyone who said the war would last for years and require 400,000 troops got retired. Etc., etc.

And, the dems never voted to go to war. They voted to give him the authority to go to war if all other means failed. It was stupid to trust the punk, but they did not vote for war.

8. What got me about that speech
Bush said "congress had access to the same intelligence" which is techincally correct.

Notice, he did NOT say, "congress had the same access to intelligence" - because they dont' Congress can only see what the executive branch releases to them.

7. I check Rasmussen's poll numbers every day. My thinking is
that if Rasmussen poll numbers show him in a bad light, things must be going worse for Bush than we suspected.

9. Last week NBC/WSJ
Had it at 36% approve and i thought that was high. You're correct about rasmussen if anything they inflate and look for something to prop the monkeyboy* up with.
We're getting closer to that magic 33% everyday, once we crash through that there'll be no stopping the fall.

10. The Today Show said he would give Part 2 of that speech today
in Alaska. Sometimes when you're in a hole you get so deep you lose track of which way is up. Keep digging Monkey Man, you'll soon be in China.

12. It's part of the WH multi-scenario strategic plan
He's throwing out another bucket full of shit, then they sit back and wait to see what sticks! Limbaugh will pick up a load of it and start spreading it around and that's how they know what to keep pointing at.

11. what his speech does is remind everyone after 9/11 we were all to shut
up and support bush. or we were antiamerican, unpatriotic. it was an ugly time for america. now, when people arent so fearful and seeing the results of not speaking out, and now blaming the very democrats threatened because they didnt speak up.........we are hearing bush telling us to shut up again.

aint gonna work

14. I guess the rightwingers can suck it. No Bush recovery after all.
They were citing his move up in the Ras poll as a sign of recovery.
