Let's pass a law requiring English teachers to teach Klingon.

After all, nobody can prove that Klingons don't exist. As a matter of fact, the universe is infinite and hence within it all possible things are played out. Therefore, not only are Klingons certain to exist, it is also certainly possible for them to travel in time. In fact, they could be here any minute.

We should consider ourselves lucky to have carefully preserved historical documents introducing us not only to the Klingons but to their language. First contact is bound to be tricky, as they are a violent, judgemental and xenophobic race. The more we can understand and communicate with them, the better our chances.

We cannot afford to let our great nation fall behind educationally. Have you seen the writing of the Chinese (pointy) and the Arabaics (swirly)? Have you seen the Klingon writing? It's pointy and swirly. I believe we are already at a considerable disadvantage to foreign children. When First Contact comes, it is little Chinese and Arabaic children who will negotiate the peace. And we all know how far we can trust them to preserve the principles of our Founding Fathers.

The bedrock principle of science is uncertainty. Therefore we should teach our children to be uncertain. The bedrock principle of the language arts is to teach us to communicate with each other. Therefore it makes perfect sense that English teachers begin teaching Klingon. It's not as if they're doing much at the moment. Most of their students already speak English (except for the illegals) and the books they read are just about sex.

I plan on teaching my children to speak fluent Klingon, but I fear it will not be enough. After all, there are only 14 of them. And I don't think I can trust my neighbors to do the best for their children. After all, what's the point of being on a school board if you can't ram your irrational beliefs down the throats of others?
