Dover, PA and San Francisco, CA Got a Bad Rap This Week
There are an awful lot of DU'ers who are outraged over Pat Robertson's suggestion that the people of Dover, PA deserve no help from God because they replaced some school board members. And Bill O'Riley has certainly angered many people at this site over his invitation to Al Queda to have a free for all in San Francisco, CA. It seems my fellow Democratic Underground members have considerable respect for the town of Dover and the city of San Francisco.

Surely there must be some place in the United States that is worthy of God's abandonment and Al Queda's wrath? For the life of me, I can't think of where that could be.

1. First, I don't think they got a bad rap
it was shill and pat that are mad at those cities, so that's a good rap.
Secondly, I don't think there's anywhere that deserves al qaeda's
"wrath."

4. Consider that...
God doesn't seem to take an active hand in these matters, and I doubt that Osama listens to O'Reilly, so the point is moot.

7. No, there is no place in the United States, or indeed
Edited on Sat Nov-12-05 11:41 PM by Crunchy Frog
anywhere in the world, that I believe is worthy either of God's abandonment or of Al Queda's wrath. God knows that the world is full of stupid, smallminded, greedy, and even downright evil people. Nevertheless, I would not wish those things on any of them, and of course, all of those places also have good and decent people, or simply ordinary people trying to get by as best they can.

What I would wish for all of those places and the people in them is that they could become better human beings, as indeed, we all should. I would wish that they could learn a greater level of compassion and understanding for their fellow human.

When you think about it really, it's the Republicans and right wingers who thirst after vengeance and long for blood. As a liberal, I cannot embrace that view. I don't wish to see people being punished for being "bad". I want to see people lifted up. I want to see our entire country become better people than we have been.

I don't want people to be punished, I want people to be better.

12. Dover and San Francisco got a great rap this week
Robberson and O'Lielly got the rap they deserved this week. By saying what they did I'm sure most people think more highly of these cities than they did before.
