So Judith Miller is retiring?
Reporter at center of CIA leak retires
'I have become the news,' Miller says in letter to New York Times

NEW YORK (CNN) -- New York Times reporter Judith Miller, who went to jail for refusing to reveal her source during an investigation into the 2003 outing of a CIA operative, has retired from "the old gray lady," the newspaper announced Wednesday.

Seems to me she had no choice

1. That's a nice way of saying: "You're fired. Turn in your key and badge."
Actually, she'll probably get a really generous severance and retirement package for her faithful service. No matter how much it hurt the paper, she did what was expected.

2. I heard it was 'in the high six figures'. UGH
I can't properly convey the dismay and disgust in me when I heard that detail.

And to think that Miller was concerned about denying that she was in bed with Libby in a more literal sense than usually conveyed. I mean... geez...

4. Judith had requested
an opportunity to respond to some of her co-workers published concerns about her attitude and behavior. The editors at the NYT refused her request. Hence, today there is the LTTE, and her decision to leave the paper.

6. I think there's got to be some jobs she can do...
I know there's work for someone of her stenography skills at The Washington Times, Fox News, hell even internet sites like The Drudge Report or NewsMax.

You know they will gleefully eat her pro-Bush shit up with a spoon.

7. We can look forward to appearances on Faux News
and a slew of books by Regnery press. "I Was Fucking Right!", "Confessions of the Queen of Iraq", and "Boot Scootin': The Inside Story of Scooter and Me".

9. Is that what they call it these days? In that case, I've been retired a
few times in my life :). She got a much sweeter retirement package than I did when I was "retired".

12. She'll now go on to a lucrative career
writing whining and self indulgent memoirs, appearing on talk shows to celebrate her heroic martyrdom, and maybe get a spot on cable "news" or even get her own radio program.

Well, the "old gray lady" is still the "old gray lady of the evening" to me, even if they did end up calculating that Judith Miller was too costly for them to keep.
