Will you watch the World Trade Center movie by Stone?
Hey all,

Do you plan on seeing the movie when it comes out? For me, it is too soon. I was there, and I lost friends that day. I know that for so many Americans and citizens of the world, 9/11 was something horrible that happened to other people...but to many New Yorkers it was not something we watched on TV...it was something we saw with our eyes, it was something we literally smelled for weeks afterwards.

Images of that day still pop into my head on a regular basis. I can not for the life of me see myself sitting in some movie house, eating popcorn watching it again.

1. No
My question would be, "what is the point of making a movie about 9/11 4+ years after it happened?"

3. Probably
It depends on how good it looked; but i like Stone as a director and there are plenty of good stories to be told about that event. Meaninful stories.

It would depend on what his focus is, though.

6. My husband and I thought the same exact thing.
We didn't live in the city. We lived in Poughkeepsie at the time. Had friends and neighbors that worked in the towers and family working on Wall St. Some survived and some did not. Our next door neighbor at the time was a NYC cop. We didn't see him for three days. I'll never forget the look on his face when he came home. I get tears in my eyes just thinking about it. It's much too soon for a movie. I still haven't been to the city. We have since moved to Maine, my husband got transfered at work. We miss NY so much, but also love it here.

7. what's the focus? if it's about the coverup, I'll watch it
if it's a gung-ho touchy feely movie that makes you "proud to be an american" and want to sign up for the military, forget it.

8. For me, it's just too soon.
I'm not necessarily saying that Stone is wrong to make the film now, but personally, I just can't sit down and watch the dramatization of something so horrible...not yet...even though I was thousands of miles away at the time.

9. Will he include info that nearly all the hijackers had SAUDI passports
and were NOT Iraqi? I am constantly still running into people who justify invading Iraq as retribution for 9/11.

10. Plot Summary for Untitled Oliver Stone/September 11 Project (2006)
Sounds like an After School Special.

In the aftermath of the World Trade Center disaster, hope is still alive. Refusing to bow down to terrorism, rescuers and family of the victims press forward. Their mission of rescue and recovery is driven by the faith that under each piece of rubble, a co-worker, a friend a family member may be found. This is the true story of John McLoughlin and William J. Jimeno, the last two survivors extracted from Ground Zero and the rescuers who never gave up. It's a story of the true heroes of that fateful time in the history of the United States when buildings would fall and heroes would rise, literally from the ashes to inspire the entire human race.

12. i too lost a friend
but I have not been to ground zero (I have to tell friends from out of the area that it is NOT a tourist attraction, it is where thousands of people were murdered. leave your cameras at home and say a prayer instead)

It hurts to see what has become of the memory of those who have died to "America", a misguided justification for an unnecessary war, a reason to fly a flag, "never forget" t-shirts and shot glasses.

Thise who lost a loved one, or even just a friend like I did, remember this everyday. Maybe it is too soon - jesus I can just see the 2025 version of Leonardo DeCaprio starring in another movie about it.

11. Absolutely.
Stone is a great filmmaker. I like his takes on history, and the controversy that he courts is proof that he touches nerves. Good for him.
