College Not Combat winning in San Francisco. Military out of Schools!

A very important local initiative in San Francisco looks like its going to be a sure winner.

Supported by a wide coalition of antiwar groups and individuals, it calls for an end to military recruiters in our children's schools and instead work to provide students with the means to go to college without combat.

This should be a model for communities nationwide.

Excerpt from proposition:

Resolved, that the people of San Francisco oppose U.S. military recruiters using public school, college and university facilities to recruit young people into the armed forces.Furthermore, San Francisco should oppose the military's "economic draft" by investigating means by which to fund and grant scholarships for college and job training to low-income students so they are not economically compelled to join the
military!

My son is a third generation San Franciscan (my mom and I were also born there), I am so glad some folks realize that the military is destroying our kids.
