Binka, Ben and Miss America...

Hi Again DU'ers,

Thank you all for your continued support, thoughts, positive vibes, energy and prayers!

Ben is on the mend and emotionally doing very well! Binka has been feeding him with lots of TCL, good coffee, Subways, and a lot more "Non-Hospital" food and Ben is responding tremendously, especially to Mom's TLC! What a difference Binka has seen since she has been there. Ben has been able to get up and put a bit of pressure on his leg, and with each day, sees more and more progress. A few days ago he was barely able just touch the floor with the ball of his foot, now he is able to get 8-10 feet to the doorway hobbling on a walker.

The weekends were a trip, filled with a lot of energy with a lot of people coming and going. Just a few snippets to give you a taste... Ben's Uncle (The Freeper Fathers side) and his friend showed up with 4 kids, a couple of boys under 10 and a couple of teenage girls. They wanted them to see Ben (an Iraqi War Vet and his injuries) to personalize the war and (Support Our Troops). The highlight of that visit was when Ben showed them his wounds. When the 15yo girl saw his skin graf, she started to get woozie, sat down with her legs between her legs, and you guessed it... Blew Lunch! Ben was cracking up, thought that taught em a lesson! What don't these AzzHatz get, Ben is not a Side-show in a circus, he needs to rest and heal, but the Freep Parade continued. Then there was a buzz, and into his room walk in Miss America, Ben was up for that! A few smiles and laughs, some pic's and Ben got her to give up her Crown for a few kewl pic's that Binka will post. Then there was the WWF dude, and some band called the Mama-citas... I won't even go there.

When we were talking he said it was just way too much activity, and he prefers to escape with Binka for some quite time away from the hustle and bustle. What they really enjoy is just being together!
They sit there reading the morning papers together, going out for afternoon wheelchair rides, catching the awesome sunset and just hanging out, talking, holding hands, and most importantly sharing an incredible Love!

More good news is that Binka put the Residents, Interns and Psych-Op Shrinks in there place re: the attempt to get Ben shipped out to a VA for IN-Pat care... NGTFH!!! Today the primary came in and said not to worry, they won't send him anywhere unless Ben feels that he is ready. Looks like whenever that time comes, he'll be on a 60 or 90 day convalescence leave where he'll spend time up in Minnesota going through Rehab and then toward the end, he said he'd love to come out here to Italy for a few weeks before heading back to 29 Palms. All Great News, and his Aunt Mo (a nurse) would make the trip out with him as well.. what more could you ask for!

With that all said, LIFE IS WONDERFUL!!!

Binka will be back home next Monday, and I am sure she can't wait to give you her own updates and post some of the Pic's (especially Ben & the Crown)! Binka sends her love to you here at DU and her may thanks (Grazie MIlle)!

If anything else breaks, like Ben going Exorcist if Rummy or the other Neo-cons drop by for a visit, I'll keep you posted. The next update that you'll be getting is direct from Binka!
