Most Inane CNN poll- Do you worry about hitting an animal while driving?
The headlines are about rioting in Argentina to welcome our Dear Leader, Jimmy Carter saying we were mislead to war with lies, etc etc etc...this really has to be the stupidest poll yet.

All during this "outrage du jour" admin their polls have been incredibly rediculous but this one takes the cake.

For the record I would swerve to avoid any living thing if it didn't put anyone in harms way. I don't lose sleep over it but I have lost a good deal of sleep over this criminal corrupt admin and the path it is taking our country down. Grrrr.

Perhaps this belongs in the Lounge, I really don't know. Mods please feel free to move if you feel inclined. I think I'll start compiling the stupid CNN polls and contrast them with the real concerns of the day. I wish I had kept some of the stupider ones.

What hard hitting journalism. I think dumb ass media belongs in General Discussion. Let's discuss it.

CNN is a joke, but a dangerous one. Anyone who thinks 24 hour cable "news" channels dispense meaningful press information is a moron. I'm sorry...moran.

2. Well it is a stupid question, but this time of year I am always on
"deer alert". I hit one last Feb--first time ever and I broke it's back but did not kill it. It was awful. I had to call my husband to come and kill the poor thing and I had to stay there and watch it thrash until he did. I hope I never go through that again.

3. Yes it is stupid compared to the rest of the international news
but most MSM does not like to look beyond the borders.

An honest answer to the poll would be sometimes, espically in the fall driving by farm fields in the dark.

4. It does not belong in the Lounge.
Big Media is SCARED. They take down polls w/ 'bad' replies.

Why take them down when you can just substitute emotional sh*t? Most ppl have hit an animal and likely feel horrible about it. I know I would. That thought goes scurrying about in your brain for a loooong time.

They NEED distractions.

5. I saw that too. I worry least about small birds, then more about
larger birds, squirrels, rabbits, armadillos, racoons, oppossums, etc.-then dogs and cats because they might be pets, thereafter progressing up to really worrying about deer, moose, bears, elk and such. Doesn't everyone? Truly a stupid poll.

6. It is a stupid poll. I do worry about hitting a deer, it's like

an obstacle course driving between dusk and dawn anymore. To think some people actually want to stop hunting. Someone hit one in front of my house a couple years ago, the poor thing had both front legs broke just above the knees and was trying to walk and bawling. I had to shoot it.

7. I worry more about animals driving
Especially the ones addicted to talking on their cell phones while weaving from lane to lane.

13. Yes! Thank you!
I hate seeing one of those behemoths drifting into my lane & wondering if they will realize their path in time to avoid me. I always slow way down. Almost always, when they correct & we pass, they are yakking on their cell.

My opinion: It may be a poll that is badly timed -- other important topics in the news that are more timely, but on a slow news day, this is certainly a worthy topic, don't you think?

Some areas of the country have planned their highways to include & consider migratory routes of animals & have paths for the animals to migrate from one region to another without crossing highways. They have underpasses. I don't know how effective they are, but for the first time there is an awareness of designing our infrastructure, our needs, around the needs of other species. This is a good thing!

As for do I worry about hitting an animal at night? Yes, I do. Even if it's a small animal & not a deer that "could damage my car." Mostly, what I do at night or in areas that I feel are high risk areas for hitting an animal, I SLOW DOWN!!!!! What the hell does that cost me? A little bit of time? To save an animal's life? Good pay off in my opinion.

For me, I will slam on my brakes to avoid hitting an animal. However, I rarely swerve, cuz, you can't predict where the animal will go & if your swerving will make a difference. But I definitely will slam on my brakes.

ANIMALS: Thanks for giving us a brake!

8. I'm more worried about deer hitting my car. A deer hit the driver's side
of my car at 55 MPH (I never saw, heard or felt anything) and caused the drivers side windows to explode inward on me. I had a previous deer accident as well.

That said, the poll is stupid.

9. True... but why are some 38% not concerned ?
Is it
a) They are in complete control of their destiny and immune to accidents.
b) They really don't care and figure its the animals fault for getting in their path
c) They are too busy trying to avoid hitting "the children" in their SUV's.

Just asking...

11. I am concerned that I'll see Wolfie's face on every deer in the road,
and I'm afraid I'll go out of my way to kill the innocent animal.

14. I don't know
I see your point about more important stuff out there to poll on, but at this time of year I have to dodge deer on my way home a couple of times/week.

Keeps you on your toes, for sure.

And not even a place for the response: "No, but I worry that if I ever see Bush in the crosswalk, I won't be able to hit the accelerator soon enough."

;)
