Looks like the Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court has to recuse
on DeLay:

Judicial selection spinning in DeLay case
Appearance of conflicts follows judges up the political ladder.

Thursday, November 03, 2005

The judicial carousel in U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay's conspiracy case almost spun out of control Thursday as the search for a judge beyond the hint of any political taint reached the Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court.

But even he has deep partisan ties.

Chief Justice Wallace B. Jefferson, asked to name a trial judge for the DeLay case, shared the same campaign treasurer and consultant as DeLay's Texans for a Republican Majority. One of his largest campaign donations — $25,000 — was from the arm of the Republican National Committee that's at the center of the allegation that DeLay and his co-defendants laundered corporate money into political donations in 2002.

1. ouch
DeLay opened a real can of worms when he fought to get rid of Judge Perkins, didn't he? Will they have to go to a traffic court judge before they find a justice who is non-partisan?

2. All judges in Texas are partisan
The only choice is to overturn the prior decision and reinstate the original judge.

Or, if they're lucky, they'll find some Democrat who never made a political donation in their life. I'm sure all the Republicans have ties to DeLay or DeLay organizations.

3. Change of venue called for.
They'll have to find a place away from the taint of Delay fundraising.

How about Vermont?

7. How about that new democracy?
In Iraq. I'm pretty sure the judges there aren't tainted by DeLay money.

4. Well well well...Earl is showing the country how corupted the entire
party is in Texas...Chief Justice Wallace B. Jefferson... shared the same campaign treasurer and consultant as DeLay's Texans for a Republican Majority. One of his largest campaign donations — $25,000 —was from the arm of the Republican National Committee that's at the center of the allegation that DeLay and his co-defendants laundered corporate money into political donations in 2002.

--- Can it get any more clearer than this? Delay Judge shopping has exposed how deep the coruption goes. Backfired horribly.

6. Is this some shit or what?? Betcha Jefferson is pissed at Schraub.
Now the Chief Justice has had the spotlight shined on him and all his ties to DeLay and the odious TRMPAC (plane rides on defendant's plane, questionable corporate donations, etc).

Cool!

As a Texan, I say let's rip the whole TX judiciary wide open and see what's goin' on inside our corrupt repub courts!

Meanwhile, I can't wait to see the next move - tee hee!
