5. He's outlining what Phase II is supposed to cover.
Roberts thinks the whole thing can be wrapped up in 5 days. Says it'll be easy. It's all straightforward.

Lots of baloney.

21. Phase I- investigation into how the CIA screwed up intel on Iraq
specifically WMD

Phase II was supposed to be about how (if) the intel was manipulated and twisted to begin with to fit what the admin wanted. They postponed the hearings until after the election a YEAR AGO because we wouldn't want lying about go to war and the politicization of prewar intelligence to get all politicized and stuff.

16. No way they can.....
get this all done in just 5 days. This is bigger than Watergate or any other scandal in the history of our country....a true investigation will take months to be able to sort out all the fraud and deception that went on by Bush and his thugs.

2. The Office of Special Plans is tied into the forged document about
uranium and Niger.

There's a connection there.

7. Here's the information:

OSP=Office of Special Plans

" At this point, any American connection to the actual forgeries remains unsubstantiated, though the OSP at a minimum connived to circumvent established procedures to present the information directly to receptive policy makers in the White House. But if the OSP is more deeply involved, Michael Ledeen, who denies any connection with the Niger documents, would have been a logical intermediary in co-ordinating the falsification of the documents and their surfacing, as he was both a Pentagon contractor and was frequently in Italy. He could have easily been assisted by ex-CIA friends from Iran-Contra days, including a former Chief of Station from Rome, who, like Ledeen, was also a consultant for the Pentagon and the Iraqi National Congress."

22. Don't you wish we could have an option for
a cable package that reasonably intelligent people might want to use? I think I'd select Discovery Channel, TLC, C-Span 2, 3, etc. I get two of the c-spans.

18. They do it on purpose. It started many decades ago but is used more now.
Even Randi Rhodes uses it sometimes. I don't think she realizes what she's doing by using their language. I need to e-mail her about that.

20. Roberts heads the senate oversight committee on intelligence
They were supposed to look into where/how we got the "bad" intelligence. As the head of the committee, Roberts stalled the investigation until after the election . . . I dunno, maybe he thought their findings would make the Repos look bad and he didn't want to play politics. Anyway, he put it off, and then he canceled it.

And about the OSP, I'd just like to point out that the CIA is a statutory agency - approved by legislation and legally funded. The OSP wasn't. It seems illegal in principle because their was no legislation bringing it into existence. At best, it only existed for one purpose, which was to circumvent the existing intelligence channels.
