Anyone know good sources for hospital costs?
I am trying to find some numbers on how much an overnight hospital stay costs. Specifically, I am looking for those numbers for Minnesota, but wonder if there is a central resource or if anyone has any ideas of where such numbers might reside.

Ideally the source I use will have multiple data points - lots of cost breakouts by type of care (ICU, General stay, etc.) and the sample gathered as an average.

thanks for any help you can offer.

1. Have you tried the NCHS website?

National Center for Health Statistics.

Not sure of the exact URL, but it's probably www.cdc.gov/nchs. NCHS has faststats on a variety of health/health care topics. If that doesn't work, drop me a line and I'll ask a colleague at work who does health services research. (I'm faculty in public health, but health admin isn't my area.)

Hope this helps.

3. thanks, I'll give that a look
and I appreciate the offer. My area isn't health admin, either so this venture has thus far been, well, an education.

4. I think that will narrow it down for me
I've been trying to wade thru Medicare stuff but felt a little lost as this is not my field. Part B has the right ring.

thanks, papau.
