Did anyone else notice the date? Is it in any way relevant?
When I got ahold of the actual text of the indictment, the first thing that jumped out at me is that the term of the grand jury began on October 31, 2003. I have heard that they have the option of only 18 months of extensions. Fair enough.

But, if the GJ began on Oct. 31, 2003, isn't something off? From Oct. 31, eighteen months would take us to March of this year, wouldn't it? And even if I have the 18 months part of it wrong, wouldn't it seem logical that any extension would go through the same DAY of the month as the GJ began, if it is extended on a monthly basis, as it seems to be? Yet everyone has been saying that the GJ expires today, on the 28. Why?

Is this nothing, the product of a brain that has not had enough sleep in more than a week, or is there something meaningful in this? Is this why the info that Fitzgerald provided in his news briefing about whether there will be a new GJ seemed somewhat vague? Will there be an October (31st) surprise?

Or is this just a bad case of sleep-deprived wishful thinking?

1. I think you can extend the GJ up to six additional months...
not sure about the 28th/31st discrepancy, though.

3. Was it just me, or didn't Fitz seem just a teensy bit vague about
extending, versus a new GJ? He told us what the rules are, but I'm not quite certain that he actually said what he himself was planning to do.
Although it sort of *seemed* like he was saying what he was going to do. Was he just being deliberately obscure? Or am I just so darn tired that I'm not following at all. LOL

Should Expire Oct 30th.
But since Oct 30th is a Sunday, the preceeding work day Friday is the end....

4. Aaahhh, ok, well, that answers part of it anyway.
Still doesn't explain the 18 month discrepancy, vs the 24 months that he already has apparently taken. But maybe that's really not very important.

5. i think there was 18 plus 6 for this Grand Jury
So it would have originally expired in March, but with 6 month extension brings it to 24. Maximum. THats it for that Grand Jury, he now has to empanel a new Grand Jury, not extend again.
