We can't confirm Bush's Ambassador to Holland: He's under INVESTIGATION.

FM Requests US For Speedy Appointment Of Ambassador

WASHINGTON, 26/10/05 - Foreign Minister Ben Bot has urged his US counterpart Condoleeza Rice not to let the proposed appointment of Roland Arnall as ambassador to the Netherlands become a "long-drawn-out affair." Bot also discussed Afghanistan and Venezuela with Rice.

US President George W. Bush proposed Arnall as his ambassador in The Hague, but the Senate has not yet approved his appointment. "I have said clearly that we cannot wait until the cows come home," Bot stressed following his meeting at the State Department in Washington.

Arnall's appointment is delayed because his company Ameriquest, a large mortgage provider, is under investigation. "I have sympathy for a domestic situation, but the Netherlands and America work together in so many areas that it is important to have an ambassador in the post," Bot noted. There has been no US ambassador in the Netherlands since the departure of Clifford Sobel at end-July.

5. What's the rush?
The UK was without an ambassador from the USA for about 350 days, until June this year. Non-career ambassadors are wastes of space - a suit with a handshake and lots of donor money to throw parties, wanting a neat title to impress people. Any real work is done by the career diplomats under them, or filling in when there's no appointment.

7. Predatory Lender!
Ameriquest is frequently cited as being a predatory lender - charging people with lower credit scores exorbitant amounts of interest. He's a slimeball who gives to both parties, but mainly Repugs. Including Der Gropinator. Check this out...

8. Ok, this is new...
Find somebody already corrupt and under investigation, so they can't be brought down by impending investigation while in office?

What's next, appointing cronies who are *already* in jail, to save the embarassment of a trial?

9. Really! Just pardon someone and send him off to the Netherlands--
someone jailed on a pot charge would be thrilled to take the job.
