My granddaddy called Rummy a motherfucker this past summer.
I was told that he wouldnt even go on an elephant ride at Disney land lol because the elephant symbolfies the GOP.

Doesnt look like the kind of guy with a mouth like that lol same goes for me. On Truman he had a soft side and a heart too obviously, judging by this really kind and heart warming comment to my relative who lost her brother on Iwo Jima, yes it was the flagraiser's family, he said, "It was an honor to meet your parents" now back to those fuckers, I hate them, Harry and I if we had ever met would have so much fun lol.

2. We should point out that it's grammatically incorrect.
A democrat is a noun. Democratic is an adjective. My English teacher would have me writing this a thousand times.

"Thou shalt not use a noun as an adjective."

7. But we won't
It "might make us look bad."

"We're scared."

God damned right. I made the mistake of flipping onto MSRNC for a moment to see a Democratic Strategist identified on the Tv as "Democrat Strategist".

It is EXACTLY the SAME insult as "Jew Lawyer" (instead of "Jewish Lawyer").

But I predict the Dems will do NOTHING about it.

Nothing.

14. I agree Clete !
We should simply point out their grammatically incorrect usage of the word "Democrat" with the word "Party". Both are nouns and cannot be used to describe a noun. Of course, Republican can be used as a noun and an adjective - is it because they are two-faced? :)

There's nothing grammatically wrong with using a noun as an adjective.

20. I think your grammar teacher isn't the bright one.
Just because English has slimed into a morass of colloquialisms and grammatically incorrect usage in this country, doesn't mean that there aren't proper and commonly accepted rules of usage. Journalists like Judy Woodward and especially Bob Novak, who uses the noun democrat as an adjective all the time, should be especially careful of their grammar if they are to maintain any credibility as journalists. Of course they have already proved themselves to be hacks anyway and this is one of many reasons they are so. These errors makes me believe that they got their journalism degrees out of the same Sear's catalog that Bush and Schwarzenegger got their MBA's.

Personally, I'm proud to vote for the Liberal Democrat Party in Britain. I think some of you guys need to worry about other things a little more than changes in word use.

39. A noun used to modify a noun is not an error
My favorite example is the phrase steel factory. If you mean a factory made of steel, then you have an adjective modifying a noun. If you mean a factory where steel is made, then you have a noun modifing another noun. It's perfectly respectful use of the English language. For a truly horrible (yet grammatical) example, try: Microscoft Office Products Division computer.

Repub Party?
http://www.phil.unt.edu/~hargrove/repub.htm

The following one is from a repuke at the National Review. At least he knows his grammar...
http://www.nationalreview.com/impromptus/impromptus020402.shtml

<snip>

"All right, I now have to address the great Democrat/Democratic debate in America. A reader has written me imploring me to say “Democrat party,” “Democrat policy,” and so on, instead of “Democratic.” I am forced to explain that “Democrat” is the noun, “Democratic” the adjective. “Republican” serves as both noun and adjective — which is why we have the confusion, probably. I once heard a caller to C-SPAN say, indignantly, “Why do I have to say ‘Democratic,’ when we don’t say ‘Republicanic’?”

Of course, Republican pols have long liked to use “Democrat” adjectivally. Bob Dole, during the infamous vice-presidential debate of 1976, talked about “Democrat wars.” George W. Bush says “Democrat” in that same way: “I got many friends in the Democrat party.” Basically, wherever there are goobers or Republican mischief-makers, there will be “Democrat” as an adjective.

The idea is that democratic is a good thing to be, and Democrats shouldn’t apply this term to their awful selves.
Well, republican is a good thing to be, too — this nation is a republic — but too few people recognize that these days. We
used to speak frequently of “republican virtues” — that’s been somewhat lost.

My fellow right-wingers, if it hurts you to say, or write, “Democratic,” just remember that that’s “Democratic” with
a very, very big D — a D right through the ceiling. Because many of the Democrats we encounter are anything but
democratic (and some Republicans, it is true, are rather less than strictly republican)."

18. Repugs are masters at propaganda
Democrats will continue to lose the information war unless they realize:

1. Winning arguments isn't always about logic. Dems tend to believe that winning an argument is simply about neatly laying out their facts, which is why right wingers continue to beat our heads in on all the pundit shows.

2. Symbolism means everything. Dems tend to believe that "only the big things matter". Exhibit A is the Confederate Flag. Dems will say that it's not that important because there are bigger fish to fry. But symbolism is the biggest issue of all because it influences mass thinking. Repubs understand this and will continue to focus on the "little things" that Dems think to be unimportant. That is why the right has taken over: they saw "entertainment media" (cable, radio, etc) as the most important venue for getting out their message, where the left thought of it as unimportant. There are countless other examples.

Refer to them as the RepubliCON party. All it takes is a slight phonemic shift. Shorten it to Public-Con, or simply "the Cons."

RepubliCON pResident George W. Bush

Looks good.

The whole "Democrat" deal reminds me of an article in my local newspaper where environmentalists were referred to as "enviros" - to me the latter is a slang term invented by foes of environmentalists, although I couldn't find any definitive proof. I did google "enviros" and came up with 99% anti-environmentalist tripe in the first several pages of results. So I e-mailed the editor.

27. You should be working for the dem leadership.
This is exactly what needs to be done.

Symbolic messages are the only ones that get through to most Americans. That's how you change the underlying memes that are the filters for most American's information.

Set policy logically - communicate it symbolically.

Yeah!
