Sound Reason To Impeach (even for Republican Lawmakers)
Ok, this is the end. This thread sum's up what's going on the WH in a nutshel:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5101545

Think about what's been leaked to the press.

"Cheney is a focus of the prosecutor."
"Libby never admitted to a June 23rd meeting with Miller."
"Cheney was IN meetings of the WHIG and discussed Wilson there."
"Cheney aide #1 has flipped."
"Cheney aide #2 has flipped." (today)

These leaks are attacks. They are blows against Cheney and his staff.
<snip>
Today's leak was a counter-attack. It was retribution.

Today's "Bush Whacked Rove" article doesn't protect Bush. The headline may look that way but it's really a political nuclear time bomb aimed directly at King George.

It absolutely implies that he lied to the American people.
It suggests that he has aided in obstruction of justice.
It implicates him in acts of political revenge.

And it ties him to the entire conspiracy.

This is the END of the BUSH REGIME my fellow DUers. The EXECUTIVE branch IS INDEED having an all-out-war of INFIGHTING. And that leaves our country in a VERY VULNERABLE SITUATION.

Combine that with the INCOMPETENT handling of disaster recovery and the WAR and you have grounds for impeachment of the entire top level of the government.

THE TIME IS NOW TO ACT.

Let us organize a grass-roots campaign to contact LAW-MAKERS URGING THEM TO ACT to PROTECT OUR NATION. This is something the DU Activist Corps could get rolling. As a member of that group, I officially request that this be taken up by DU.

2. Everyone should contact their reps, regardless of party
Because it's moved beyond party politics now.

It's DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS to our Nation.

Our National Security is at stake with a DYSFUNCTIONAL ADMIN.

If the American People do not ACT on this, we are letting ourselves be put at risk.

3. I hate to gt the propaganda letters from K Bailey H. Every time I write
her she replies thanks for your concerns and proceeds to pollute my mind with RW talking points, that are always exactly opposite of what I wrote.

5. I get them too from my reps
But I do believe this time is different.

It is different because the admin has lost traction in thier own party and the DYSNFUNCTIONAL INFIGHTING is something that will scare the pants off the repubs.

12. At least her office sends them out.
Have you ever gotten one from John Cornyn? I haven't and I've written and called him many, many times.

Same with my Rep, he neither returns my calls nor writes back. It's as if I'm dead to him. :(

4. Hear, hear!
I applaud your motion, and I second it. I am always amazed at the number of people on this board who immediately adopt the defeatist attitude. "What do you want us to do? Congress is under Republican control." To them I say, "How about getting off your butts and join us in making some noise, goddamn it!" Those who say it can't be done will never do it!

Why do people say "Hear, hear"?

7. Excellent, thanks.
And we should be sure to add this reason when contacting via the million phone march.

Also, it wouldn't hurt if this was a DU Activist item.

8. Will an impeachment proceeding derail Fitz's
investigation and indictments? I'd like to see him file them first. Otherwise impeachment proceedings may end up giving some perps immunity and then they will get off scott free like Ollie North.

9. Any Constitutional Lawyers in the crowd?
I'm not sure on this. I do know that Impeachment is likely the only thing that will get Bush out of office early. Although he *could* be indicted, it's not likely it would stand (U.S. Supreme Court would likely overturn it).

10. Impeachment is a form of indictment.

The house impeaches and the senate holds the trial before the chief justice right? You can't indict a president you can only impeach one.
