Laura Bush visits KC school

First Lady Laura Bush visited a Kansas City grade school Tuesday to watch fathers do what they’re supposed to do – read to their kids, laugh with them, be with them.

She stopped at another table of dads coloring and cutting shapes with their kids.

“I like that book about Pierre, too,” said Bush, a former librarian and grade-school teacher, to six-year-old Nazr El-Scari, who was reading Pierre with his dad, Mustafaa.

Bush later told reporters: “I think we’re at a real important time in our country where fathers are realizing they have a responsibility to their children.”
