DFA has built it, so hop aboard! The progressive networking tool we've always wanted (and that Meetup just never was...) has *finally* been created! Democracy for America has created DFA-link, which lets you meet and network with LOCAL progressives, search for or even plan local events, and get to know your progressive neighbors like never before! And, you can set your own level of privacy and involvement. There's no reason not to, so JOIN IT! The more who join, the better it works to unite us!
http://www.dfalink.com Unlike Meetup, you don't have to even sign up as part of a group. You can sign up as an individual. You can search for and contact like-minded people, invite them to a house party, and even form a local group! No other organizational tool offers us this kind of organizing power. Not MoveOn, not e-mail lists, and not the Party apparatus. NOTHING has the potential that this does to empower us to get active and act locally.
And, as we go along new features are being added to the setup that's already there:
New features recently released:
- Ability to add guests and comments when you RSVP for DFA-Link events. This should make the attendee counts much more accurate.
- Ability to see past events
- Ability for organizers to email and message their group
- Resources page with agendas and other materials (www.dfalink.com/resources )
New features targeted for release by November 1st:
- Discussion and blog tools for groups
- File uploads for groups
- Searchable venue database
- Simpler user interface for organizers
- Better map integration
So, sign up today! And then help get the word out about this new and important tool for us to use in our current struggle against the Right.
And I say all of that as someone who is definitely impressed by the potential of this new program.
