This is how Arnie says he is going to govern.
This is what I have been able to deduce from the pundit love fest today, not to mention the Democratic legislators in Sacramento rolling over just like Congress did for Bush in the past. Our senior Senator Dianne Feinstein of course welcomed him with open arms metaphorically. I am not surprised with DiFi’s 180 degrees anymore.

Well, he’s not spending all his time in Sacramento. He says it should be no different to his family than going on movie locations. Err, is he even moving his family to Sacramento? Who is really going to be doing the governing? If he plans on continuing with his other projects like the Olympic things he is involved in and having family time in the south with Maria and kids, will it be Pete Wilson really governing again?

His former campaign advisor a Shari something, (didn’t catch the last name) says that Cruz Bustamante, because of his remarks, has made his bed more or less with the new administration and will not be part of it. This is after a breezy speech saying that he would be trying to work with all sides in getting things done. This doesn’t sound very uh conciliatory to me. If you aren’t in lockstep with me, you are not part of my administration, sounds very fascist to me.

Finally, he is rescinding the car registration increase but he won’t take funding from education and he won’t raise taxes to fund this. I suppose pulling a rabbit out of a hat is no problem to him. We of course know that he will have to raise sales taxes which puts an additional burden on the poor as much as anyone else. But god forbid someone like Jay Leno should have to pay triple car registration fees on his airplane hanger full of cars that he owns for his own amusement.

Finally, some journalist fan name of Jill, something or the other again, mentioned that the way they would finance this is to bring more jobs to California and therefore more taxes. Exactly what jobs are these? Perhaps he took a page out of Hitler’s economic policies after all (or maybe I should say his advisors as Hitler wasn’t interested in economics that much). They created jobs all right. These jobs were in factories secretly rearming Germany. The workers were paid less and worked longer hours that ever before, but no one complained because they felt they were lucky to be working.

Well, I am not saying that we are going to be secretly producing arms, but there are a whole bunch of pollution producing mega- industries dying to get back into a depressed labor market with relaxed regulations to start up all over again.

Aren’t we Californians blessed?

1. They're going to "grow their way" out of it
That's the usual supply-side BS from the Puke fantasy world.

5. Bustamante "won't be a part"?
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 09:38 PM by elperromagico
God, that's idiotic. "You were mean to me during the campaign, so I'm going to take my toys and you won't be allowed to play with them." Reminds me of the Bush administration stating that France and Germany would be "punished" for disagreeing with the US over Iraq.

A little economics for the "actor"/"businessman"/"politician":
When you have a budget deficit, there are two basic ways to correct it:

1. Increase revenue (i.e., raise taxes)
2. Decrease spending

None of the Republicans (particularly those who attended the Reagan School of Economics) seem to grasp this particularly simple economic concept. Trimming some fat off the edges of California state government will not eliminate the deficit. And... under no circumstances can you decrease revenue and increase spending, as Bushy-Poo has done.

Watch Schwarzy closely... there will more than likely be a tax increase within 6-12 months. It will start off small; a "sin" tax, probably (which Arnold can justify by saying, "I'm not taxing all of California, just those citizens who smoke and drink."), followed by another tax, and another tax, and another tax.

And I guarantee you... Arnold will blame Gray Davis.

8. To be fair it was Shari who said it,
not Arnold, but it really stuck in my mind how authoritarian she sounded when she said that about Bustamante.

10. Regardless of who said it...
It's f--king childish. Great way to start off the governship of a man who said he would be the voice of the people (31% of whom voted for Cruz Bustamante).

I've said it a million times. He'll raid the pension fund to pay for his tax cuts.

16. In defense of her Bustamante bashing...
Edited on Wed Oct-08-03 09:35 PM by 0rganism
If I were Ahnold, I wouldn't be entirely comfortable having Cruz on my staff right about now. 'Course, there's not a whole lot the GOP can do about that for the moment, except rely on Cruz to be relatively impotent.

17. I agree Cruz need to be cultivated,
reached out to, compromised with. Apparently according to the former advisor Arnold doesn't seem to think so. Makes me wonder a lot about who really is in charge or thinks they are.

20. Good question: who runs the Ahnold show?
I think if you could find out Shari's connections, i.e., who she worked for prior to the campaign, who set her up with the campaign staff job, and so on, it would lead back up the puppet strings to the bunch behind Ahnold.

We know Ahnold doesn't think it's Shari herself, because Ahnold wouldn't knowingly take his commands from a woman.

24. I'll tell you where she showed up.
It was on "Buchanan and Press" and to tell the truth I was mopping the floor so I was listening more than looking. I will try to see if I can find a transcript, although on this show they don't put out a lot of them. I have to admit I didn't look today.

19. Cruz better not be wasting time with that right now
He's going to be taking a little longer in his commute, what with checking to make sure his brakes work and his engine isn't rigged to detonate when he turns the carkey.

If he's going to be "watching Arnold", he'd better keep one eye over his shoulder, cos someone's going to be watching him.

I wonder myself but I think they are going to try to make Cruz feel unwelcome. Do we really know what happened between Cruz and Davis?
