I read about this in the morning paper, and laughed so hard I almost cried. These guys are lust loons. The fundies are trying to make us aware of porn and its "destructive" nature by promoting PORN SUNDAY this weekend. So slap a copy of Dirty Debutantes in the VCR and start yelling "OH GOD! OH GOD!"

4. Oh, and I loved this part...

The article in my paper quoted a 21yo bible-thumping college student. He was upset at how pervasive porn was in his dorm, that it's everywhere. As an example, he said that people even play tricks on him with porn, by putting images on his computer so that whenever he starts up, there is a porn image there. I almost blew my morning cup o' joe out my nose at that one. Two things immediately came to mind;

First of all, the kid is a bible-thumper in a public college dorm. I bet he's a laugh riot among his suite-mates! I wonder if he blames the short-sheeting on porn, too? And the shaving cream on his hand while he's sleeping. And the atomic balm in his jock.

OR, or maybe AND, he's probably just a dumbass who got his computer infected with porno spyware. I've got a Mac, so this type of thing doesn't happen, afaik, but one of my friend's teenaged sons was busted surfing porn on the home pc one night, and he got "infected," and couldn't launch anything on his computer without an big ad for a porno site launching in his browser.

Maybe the kid in the article needs to spend less time reading the bible, and take a few moments to check out PC's For Dummies.

I'm not clicking on the xxxchurch site because, frankly, I don't have the stomach.

I am a former fundy. I'm wondering how many of those named in the Christian Science Monitor article's "sexual addiction" problem would disappear if they had a good and fulfilling sexual relationship with their own spouses. Of course, this is my opinion.

Huh? A negative body image? Maybe if you weren't a 350lb fat slob, you wouldn't have your self-esteem thumped by viewing naked people actually in shape! And about the sex not being "real," I guess ALL movies should be banned. After all, talking green ogres aren't real. Space battles aren't real. Forrest Gump ain't even real. But maybe their sex lives would be more "real," if they weren't so fixated with making sure they only "do it" in the missionary position every second Saturday when the kids are at grandma's. If you're really having fun, downloading porn won't be an issue anyway...you can just look at the home movies you had your friend take of you!

Being fat or thin really has nothing to do with whether or not one looks at porn.

Actually, the draw of porn to the church folk has nothing to do with "negative body image". It's the draw of "sinning". Again, in my opinion: I believe that fundamentalists adhere to their beliefs because they believe they do not deserve to be treated as adults. It's better to have the pastor do one's thinking. After all, one is bad and sin-filled, one could not possibly be able to run one's life and make one's own opinion on matters. I submit that sex is still perceived as dirty even after marriage.

The above are my beliefs and my ideas drawn from 10+ years in the Assemblies of God, and the destruction that happened in my former church as a result of numerous "pillars of the church" caught with their pants down, so to speak.

16. Actually, the "body image" issue is directly raised by the promoter

of the event. And in my paper, it has his picture. He looke a bit like Jabba the Hutt.

I used to be a "fat slob" in my mind. I weighed 230 lbs. I'm 175 now, and believe me, I promise you, if you don't think that makes a difference in the quality (and therefore, quantity) of your sex life...well...I'm just sayin', I speak from experience.

No offense intended to anyone except the "fat slob" organizing this ridiculous "awareness" campaign. It strikes me much like the story of the guy who gets caught with a hard-drive full of kiddy porn and tries to say he's just "doing research." This "fat slob" appears to have found a way to have his porn with the blessing of the church. I'm sure he does a lot of "research."
