1. I had my kids take extra food to school today, an extra water bottle,

and a full change of clothes. The first thing my daughter said was "Do you think something's going down today?" I told her they're cornered and that's when people do dumb things.

2. listen to you. i have a 10yr old compulsive obsessive

behavior with washing hands and germs. 1st grade his teacher hyperchondriac. i have been fighting this "illness" for four years. he got to the point of bloodying hands from obsessive washing, to not eating around people, to nagging all of us to wash hands, as often as he. he sees every lick of a finger.

i have told him for a year that he isnt washing hands properly and i am not going to teach him how. i want him to get some germs, so his body can stay in practice and shape, fighting germs.

i have totally down played it with youngest so he wont adopt this behavior.

monday i told youngest, some strong virus's are coming our way this winter, so we want to wash hands and wash well. regularly. now is the time, lol. he is with me

the oldest, i am going to have to clue him in with some of the washing, that i hadnt done in the past

says something when parents are seeing enough to change our behavior and our kids, and what we tell them.

17. I have them do it when we're expecting snow storms too.

So it wasn't a whole lot different. Ever since 9/11 when it took us a couple of hours to get to one of their schools (what normally is a 10-15 minute drive on the highway), I have been extra cautious. This school doesn't have a lunchroom or snack machine, the only food in is what they pack in their lunchbags. Lunch is between 10:30 and 11:00 for one of them and 11:00-11:30 for the other. If there were *REALLY* an emergency declared, they may be holed up in school for awhile. At least they'd have some nibbles and not have to stay in their smelly gym clothes.

After 9/11, they even suggested that parents contribute a box of granola bars and a pack of Sips to be kept in the homeroom. But that's 3 homerooms ago, don't know if they still have them or what.
