Fitzgerald investigated Miller for tipping off charity w/ties to Al Qaeda
Is this old news and I've just been in the dark, or are you as surprised as I am about this story? Perhaps this is why Judy was afraid to face the grand jury. It would make sense as to why she only wanted to testify about Libby.

(snip)
The federal prosecutor who has served at least four reporters with grand jury subpoenas in his investigation into the disclosure of an undercover CIA officer's identity is now pursuing a second leak case in which he has obtained a subpoena for New York Times reporters' telephone records.

Chicago U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald, who is also acting as a special prosecutor in the CIA leak probe, informed the Times by letter last week that his office has subpoenaed telephone company records. The move is part of an effort to determine whether anyone in the government told Times reporters of planned federal asset seizures in December 2001 at the offices of an Islamic charity suspected of providing funding to al Qaeda, according to several sources familiar with the case.

The FBI believes that a call from a reporter to a representative of the charity, the Illinois-based Global Relief Foundation, may have led to the destruction of documents there the night before the government's raid, according to findings by the Sept. 11 commission.

The subpoena seeks the phone records of two Times reporters, Philip Shenon and Judith Miller, according to the sources. Officials at the Times and in Fitzgerald's office refused to comment.

1. you know Frank Gaffney has been going after Grover Norquist
about the Charities he works with for that very reason. I wonder if Fitzgerald had Norquist in his sites.

2. Sorry, But This Is Fairly Old News
The court ruled against Fitzgerald in the matter of the subpoenas. The case is still ongoing.

4. I realize it's old news....
(although I wasn't aware of it) and find it incredible there's a complete media blackout on the issue. Lou Dobbs was drooling over Judy during his "exclusive" interview this evening, yet she's being investigated for possibly tipping off a terrorist front group???

These are Oilwellian times.

6. Despite Media Claims
I think this is the real reason Judy wanted her testimony limited. While there were widely reported news tidbits that her testimony was limited to Libby, I heard an interview with Abrams where he said her testimony was limited to Plame. That sort of twigged me to the fact that she is still nervous about this other thing. And she has reason to be. Fitzgerald's reputation is that he never lets go of a case until he is satisfied. What really amazed me about this whole martyrdom of Judy thing is that no one brought this matter up, for this adds to the weight of doubt against her credibility. She has had her fingers in many dirty deals and has no journalistic integrity to begin with. These two matters plus her championing of Chalabi along with her aluminum tube story should have her disgraced and not shopping a 1.2 million dollar book deal.

5. I would imagine that Judy would be afraid of anyone having free reign

to ask her anything they wanted under oath.

Although this is an old article it has certainly refreshed my very bad memory.

Funny how Fitzgerald has been on the periphery of 9-11, terrorist financing, Plame, and now maybe even the Franklin spy case. I bet he has found out where alot of the bodies are buried. I sure hope he turns out to be our friend.

My guess would be that Miller either didn't want to be asked any questions about her other sources that she may have talked to during the course of the Franklin investigation. As these two investigations seem to be running parallel of each other.

Or

She is putting on a big show and has turned state's evidence.

Just my buck and a half.

8. US Attorney Paul J. McNulty
is in charge of the AIPAC case(s). He and Fitzgerald are aware of the overlap in this and Plame. It is greater than the media has reported. In time, the public will recognize that these two Irishmen have uncovered a three-leaf clover of corruption, with the Niger document (and other) forgeries rounding it out.
