1. I think after tonight you have to move it to the questionable column.
And it isn't so much because of a demographic shift. It's becuase we have seen how manipulatable the public is by the media in CA. The media has a lot of power, and they're probably going to get more powerful in CA in the next year.

Democrats are going ot need a strategy that takes into account the fact that the media is going make things very hard.

2. I doubt it
I doubt it...too many people hate Bush over there anyway. The only way he could win is if the Republicans put up a "Faux News" type Newspaper (which uses the presupposed stereotype that the media is unbaised) in L.A. that can compete with the LA Times. Then he might win.

3. this is a fluke in my opinion. When he shows what a total
fool and tool he is, people will come to their
senses and feel stupid. I've seen it happen
over a write in candidate to be Mayor of Medford,
Oregon. People felt powerful, a part of change.
THen when he showed what a dork he was, they
turned on their decision like mad dogs.

5. swing may be strong....
but it is now officially 'in play' for the 2004 election.

I tell you, if Arnold & co create the perception they saved the state, it could be a generational problem.

A shakeup in the state legislature and congressional delegation that would benefit Republicans could happen, though it wouldn't be wholesale. But if they get the rep as the guys who saved Cali, republicans will certainly make gains in the coming years.

Why wouldn't they?

6. And if Bush comes out and rides around in the hummer with Arnold...
...it could really confuse people.

10. TX hasn't been saved...
last time I checked the economy still sucked down there. No jobs. Manufacturing isn't going to TX. It's going overseas.

I don't see any initiatives by Bush that will improve the economy anywhere. These initiatives need to be put in place this summer for the effects to show up next summer.

Arnold wont become governor for a while yet -- that's more time.

7. No Way!
This vote just shows that the GOP was more fired up about voting than the Dems in this election. It won't have any lasting effect, as long as the Dems are given a reason to go to the polls next time.

8. If a liberal Republican moviestar runs in 2004
maybe.

But chances are, by 2004, people will realize that the state is as bad or worse off than it is now.

Most likely Ahnold will make it a swingER state. :)

11. No
. The demographic trends aren't their. Arnold won because he isn't a social conservative like most other republicans.
